Day 2: Yeast-Free

So, I decided to try the yeast-free diet that Steph lives by. I’m on day two and let me tell you, it’s been a rough day! But apparently that’s normal since my body is detoxing.

What does this diet exclude:

  • Yeast
  • Alcohol (for the first month)
  • Fruit (for the first two weeks)
  • Sugar
  • Milk (which I had pretty much already cut out anyway)

I’m not gonna lie – it’s been a little rough. Then again, it’s only be 48 hours so hopefully it’ll get easier. I actually feel like I’m eating MORE than I was on Weight Watchers but it’s because I can eat more volume of food. With WW, I was struggling staying full. This diet forces me to prep food otherwise I don’t have many options to eat.

Food Prep

Here’s an example of what I’ve eaten:

Breakfast: Hard-boiled egg and 2 pieces of turkey bacon
Lunch: Tilapia and asparagus
Snack: Veggies with hummus
Dinner: Turkey taco meat, lettuce and black beans with a tiny bit of salsa

I’m feeling pretty exhausted, but it’s ok because I have a lot of television to watch tonight anyway 🙂 Here’s to hoping my cat doesn’t wake me up super early again!

    Do you eat whole grains, liked cooked brown rice, millet, quinoa, oatmeal/oatbran? I have gone back to no processed sugars or junk food or flour. I eat only fresh and cooked veggies, fruit, lean protein, dairy, and true whole grains (not in breads or pastas). Anything that is not a fruit or veggie is weighed and measured. It does take a bit to get used to preparing your food – like cutting up veggies – but you will get used to it. I have been doing it for so long it’s just part of my routine. Also, don’t forget to keep the proper amount of good fat (like olive oil) in your diet. Your body needs that to function. I make sure I get a tablespoon a day, via cooking or on my veggies.

    I’m definitely still using some olive oil! Right now I’ve gotten rid of ALL yeast, but after the first month you can incorporate most whole grains back in (like brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc.). We’ll see how it goes, though! 🙂
