What a whirlwind these past few weeks have been! I can’t believe I’ve been at my new job for a full month. Crazy to think a month ago I was still living in Milwaukee and now here I am back in NE Wisconsin. Life can change quickly, that’s for sure.
This post is going to be a mash-up of a Treat Yourself Tuesday link-up with Becky as well as letting you know what I’ve been up to the past few days. Most of my TYT things came from this weekend, so it all works out. 😉
So, last Thursday was my first *real* event (I helped with two registration booths for a hockey reunion, but it wasn’t an event I planned) which led me to the big ol’ Chicago for a happy hour. It was BEAUTIFUL outside and we had such a great location. We had over 40 alumni show up and ended up staying an hour past the end time just to hang out with some new (and some old!) friends. I was so happy to see some familiar faces that I haven’t seen in a few years as well as meet some awesome new faces. ALL THE FACES! (I’m writing this blog post workout, so don’t mind the weirdness. Then again, I’m always weird so I don’t know why I’m even making up excuses.)
Though the event was amazing (seriously, I was sooooo happy), we didn’t get home until 1 a.m. and it took me awhile to fall asleep making Friday quite difficult. Luckily I spent most of the day getting ready for another event and treated myself to a very large mocha frappe that got me through the day. I spent my Friday night watching YouTube, scrolling through Instagram and going to bed at 9 p.m. #oldtimer But that was my treat to myself – going to bed early!
Saturday was an early morning starting at the office to pick up the truck filled with goodies for our alumni tailgate. We left around 8:30 a.m. for a three-hour drive down to another college to cheer on our football team in their first game of the season. What a great day of tailgating and watching college football! I loved it … I hope to be able to go to a lot of football games moving forward, though I do tend to have events the same day as football. Some of those events will be tailgates, though, so hopefully I’ll be able to watch the game like I did on Saturday!
On Sunday I slept in (yayyyy), roamed around my apartment and finally got up to go to the gym. I’m couting the gym as a treat to myself since I need to start thinking about it that way. 😉 After the gym I was off to run a few errands starting off with Petco because apparently my cat needs to eat. Who knew? Then to Target where I only bought ONE THING not on my list. *Jessie gets all the points*
After Target I went to DSW to buy a pair of boots. You see, I lost about 5 lbs (though I gained a pound of that back as of this morning which makes me irritated) so I decided to buy myself a pair of (cheap) boots as a treat. I love them! Granted, it’s still pretty warm out, but I threw all of my boots out apart from one pair when I moved since they were all nasty so I needed some. I hope to buy at least one more pair this fall/winter if the budget allows.
Later in the day I took a 1 1/2 hour walk as a treat to myself to wind down before another long week. We’re ramping up with events, which is so much fun so I’ve got to take the time to myself when I have it!
And finally on Monday I treated myself to yet another mocha frappe (that needs to stop) and another workout session. This time I went home first and somehow was able to peel myself off the couch to get back to the gym at 7 p.m. and it was STILL BUSY. So crazy. I’m starting the Frisky Fall challenge with my Tone It Up girls so I had to get there. Plus, I always feel so much better.
