Happy Tuesday before Thanksgiving everyone! Just remember, if you have a three-day week this week, then today is your Thursday! I have a three-day week, but I work tonight and Friday night at the restaurant so it’s technically five. Oh well, here’s hoping I make lotsa tips!
Just sayin’. And stop with this 10% BS. I’m a good server. #endrant #gettingwayofftopic
This past weekend was a full-on treat yo’self experience for me. You can read more details about the weekend here, but I took Friday off of work and headed down to Milwaukee to have some much needed time with friends. Before all that started though, I booked an appointment with Maggie at Neroli Salon and Spa on the east side of Milwaukee. Seriously, she’s the best and I’ll continue to travel to her for my hair.
On Friday, I got up
bright dark and early to get ready to head out for Milwaukee. When I got to the salon, I talked with Maggie for a bit because I was still undecided on what I wanted to do with my hair. After showing her a few pictures and reminding her that I can only really afford to get my hair done once or twice a year (#jessieisbroke), we decided on a Lauren Conrad-inspired balayage/ombre mixture of two Pinterest photos I found. My hair took F-O-R-E-V-E-R, but luckily Maggie is super fun to talk to and we actually have a lot in common. I also used up pretty much all my data on my phone playing around on Instagram and Snapchat while the dye was … dyeing? drying? working? You know what I mean.
She then put some stuff in it (I’m good at this hair salon lingo), told me my hair might be blue (she was kidding, I’m gullible) and then proceeded to dry my hair. The more she dried, the more I noticed just *how* blonde it was. Blonder than I was envisioning, but I trust Maggie so I just let her do her thing. Once she had it all styled, she was like, “OH MY GOD, I GAVE YOU LAUREN CONRAD HAIR. Can we go outside and take pictures?” That is when I knew it looked good. She was SO excited about it and wanted to take her own photos to show people what she did. Obviously I made her take some photos on my phone, too (because I’m into myself – KIDDING – sorta – seriously kidding). So, even though these pictures have been popping up all over my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, here’s some before/afters just in case you didn’t see yet.
… and After!
This was such a huge treat for me because I never get my hair done because it’s soooooo expensive. Apparently when you have crazy long hair and a good stylist, that’ll happen. Since it’s going to be pretty low maintenance due to it being an ombre, I don’t have to worry about it for awhile. But after a year of no cut and almost two years with no color, I’m so grateful (and relieved!) to have finally been able to have this treat!
