Guys, it has been a hot minute since I’ve written a post! Almost two weeks, to be exact! I thought about blogging a few times over the holidays, but I was hit with the no creativity bug so I decided to just take a small break. But here I am with a catch-up post!
Last Monday after working all day I finallllllly got to see my best friend Michelle and meet her boyfriend (who is a pretty awesome guy, if I do say so myself) for a quick little visit. Tuesday consisted of working half the day, getting lunch with my boss and then taking off early to go up to my parent’s house for Christmas.
I tagged along with Michelle and her bf up to the UP (upper peninsula of Michigan for those of you that have no idea what the UP is) to go to the casino. Not normally my thing, but it was a lot of fun and Michelle somehow caught the lucky bug and won over $100! It was so nice to spend some time with the two of them.
Christmas Eve was super lazy, but wonderful. I went into town, wrapped my sister’s gift and came home only to put my awesome pajamas right back on and watch some movies with the fam once my sister got home from work. We watched the last two Harry Potter movies and then the traditional Scrooge movies like I mentioned in my Christmas Survey that we do every year. It was the best.
Christmas Day started out fairly early, though since both my sister and I are older our “early” was like 9 a.m. We opened up some gifts and I randomly won $50 on a scratch off ticket. My dad made us french toast and we cleaned up the mess. For some reason I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas, so you’ll just have to imagine lots of boxes and wrapping paper with cats tearing through them. I think the cats like Christmas more than we do. My sister and I headed to Green Bay to drop off my cat and meet my parents at my aunt’s house for dinner. The rest of the night I spent setting up my new Roku box (thanks, Mom!) and watching all of my YouTube subscriptions on my TV instead of my phone!
Friday was probably my favorite day of all break. I’m lucky enough that I was given off of work from early the 23rd until Jan. 1, so I had quite the vacation to fill up, but Friday I was lazy. I went to Body Pump at noon, went to Target, got myself some Chipotle and spent the rest of the day catching up on YouTube subscriptions and lots of Netflix. Then I had dinner/movie night and somehow ended up getting a cold out of nowhere and hanging out with some Nyquil.
Saturday was a pretty low key day as well. I woke up not feeling well, but my sister and dad were supposed to be coming to visit. Unfortunately my hometown, though only an hour away, got hit with a pretty bad ice/snow storm and they lost power! Needless to say, they didn’t come visit and I spent most of the day getting stuff done around my apartment and watching more Netflix after getting lunch and a mimosa at Cheesecake Heaven. I told myself a mimosa would help my cold since there’s OJ in it. 😉 Then I dug in to some gelato which, as you can see, I made a pretty good dent in.
Sunday morning started off rough due to my Nyquil not wearing off, so I took a bunch of Dayquil to try to make myself better. It was Packer game day, so nothing was keeping me from that! My mom came over before the game and then we set off to find parking and pay almost $20 for a cold hamburger and fries. Yay? But the game went well and the Pack is officially division champs and on bye week for the playoffs. Woot! Let’s just not talk about how much I wanted to walk onto that field and punch Suh right square in the throat, though.
I can’t remember what I did Monday, so I’m going to assume it wasn’t anything interesting, ha.
Tuesday I headed up north to get my passport application sorted out with my dad and get my car checked out at my cousin’s shop. Unfortunately we found out that my car is going to need something fixed in the next month or so that’ll cost me another $400. yayyyyyyy. After that wonderful news, my dad and I headed back to Green Bay, got lunch and then he put together my new bed frame! I haven’t had a bed in almost four years – my current mattress/boxspring has been on the floor. I’m an adult!
Wednesday (New Years Eve!) started out pretty low-key, but ended up being a really fun night. After changing my outfit 95 times, I went to dinner at Brett Favre Steakhouse (and I didn’t spit on any of his memorabilia – maybe I’m getting over my hatred of him!) and then out to a bar in Green Bay. The people I was with had rented out the upper portion of a bar, so we didn’t have to worry about the crazy crowds. I loved it! I loved it so much that I ended up drinking too much, but I suppose that’s the point of NYE. It was a pretty spectacular night.
But, of course, after a super fantastic night with lots of vodka tonic and probably way too many shots, I paid for it ALL DAMN DAY on Thursday. I guess that’s my body’s way of reminding me that I turn 27 at the end of the month and we just can’t drink that much anymore. So, I turned my apartment into a cave, slept as much as possible and ventured all of 2.5 miles out for gatorade and mountain dew. Finally around 5 p.m. I felt like a human again. No more alcohol for me, thanks.
And now we’re on to today! I’m back at work, though it’s a pretty slow day, and then heading to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra show with my family. I’M SO EXCITED!
I’m not a big resolution maker, but I obviously want to get back on the healthy track. Lucky for me, the Tone It Up Love Your Body challenge started yesterday and I’ll be heading into that with my wonderful partner, Katie. It should be a wonderful year! I’m looking forward to all the fun things that my new job has to offer to me and figuring out my place here in Green Bay. Lots of fun things are happening this year, including my some fun trips for work and of course, Ireland in September! So, my goals for this year are mentioned in the picture above. I want to be a better me, continue to grow into the person I know I am and just be fierce. Might as well start living the quote that I have tattooed on my side. 🙂
If you made it this far, thank you so much! How did your holiday go? What are your resolutions or goals for this year?
