20 Questions Survey

I’ve seen this 20 Questions Survey floating around the blogoshere and figured I’d jump on the bandwagon! I recently saw it on Kate’s blog and loved it, so here we go! Hope you enjoy learning a bit more about me. 🙂

1) What’s your whole name?
Jessie Suzanne Deschane

2) Are you named after anyone?
I like to tell people that I’m named after a dog because it’s sort of true. My mom always liked the name Jessie/Jesse and before she had me she named her dog Jesse. I was going to be Jesse if I was a boy or Jessie if I was a girl. Easy peasy!

3) Do you have any siblings?
Yes, one younger sister named Jennifer Rose. I was able to name her if she was a girl and thankfully she was because my mom was set on naming her “Catlin” (pronounced cat – lynn) which would’ve just been horrible for a boy. I don’t know where she got that from!

4) Where did you grow up?
A small (SMALLLLLLL) town about an hour north of Green Bay, Wis. I’m talkin’ less than 1,000 people. No offense to my town, but I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I’m definitely more of a city girl.

5) What activities did you do in high school?
Oh man! So many! As far as sports, I was in volleyball, cheerleading (competitive, so yes it is a sport – don’t even fight me on this) and dance. Other activities included being very active in 4-H, a couple of pageants, National Honor Society, YAODA, band geek, senior class play, yearbook committee … Oh, and I worked on the weekends at McDonalds once I turned 16. I was a busy bee!

6) Where did you go to college?
St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis. (basically a “suburb” of Green Bay, Wis.)

7) What activities did you do in college?
I worked a lot (some things never change …) I always had at least two jobs, so I worked at Career Services, Residential Education and Housing, a restaurant and I had an internship with a hospital in event planning (which is how I found out I loved event planning)! I was also very involved in a social group (specific to St. Norbert – similar to a sorority, but obviously without the Greek affiliation) called the Untouchables. Throughout my years in the group, I was community service chair, homecoming chair and vice president. That group kept me pretty busy and I loved almost every minute of it. 😉

Oh, and I drank and ate a LOT of Taco Bell. A LOT.

8) What did you study in college?
My major was Communications/Media and my minor was Women & Genders Studies.

… I also loved studying boys …

9) What was your first job out of college?
I’m assuming this doesn’t count the six months before I found a job and was working as a waitress and at Express? I took an internship position at a market research firm in the marketing department and was promoted a few months later to a marketing specialist position. I hated that job, to be honest. I was bored out of my mind! I cried to my boyfriend at the time every single Sunday.

10) What kind of music do you like?
All kinds! I’m starting to get into country, but I’ve always been a popular music type girl. I also love dubstep. Anything with an insane beat drop is good in my book. I lovvvvvve the sounds of bass. Yes, please.

11) What’s one hobby you’d like to pick up?
Can it be something I’d like to pick BACK up? I miss photography and playing my flute. I’d also love to make fitness a hobby instead of a chore. I’m getting there!

I took this!

I took this!

12) What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
Well, when I was younger I was about 99% sure I was going to be a singer. I even started a playground group called Cun Cet City (yes, I spelled it all with C’s and yes, I understand now how close “cun” is to another word …)

After I grew out of that phase (never!)  I honestly don’t remember what I wanted to be! Is that bad? Whoops.

13) What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
Plan my trip to Ireland!

Capture

14) Do you have any irrational fears?
Oh, tons. My middle name should be “irrational fears” instead of Suzanne. I’m afraid of the dark, of death, of flying (mostly crashing), bees, spiders, going on cruises (hellloooo, Titanic!) … I understand it’s ridiculous and I try not to let those things affect my life. (<– I also have a fear of using the wrong a/effect so if I wrote that incorrectly, I’M SORRY!)

15) Have you ever traveled outside of the country? If so, where?
I haven’t YET. See #13 🙂

16) When’s your next vacation and where are you going?
Well, besides just taking a day off here and there, or making a day trip to Milwaukee, my next trip is Ireland in September with my dad!

VTSL-Ireland

17) Do you speak any other languages?
I can swear in Spanish and ask where the bathroom is. All important things. My high school teacher was AWESOME. Seriously though, loved her. We were just more focused on Taco Days than actually learning (or at least I was). Oh, I can also sign the alphabet and something I do it without even noticing … so there’s that!

18) What’s one talent that you wish you had?
I wish I could eat anything and not get fat.

large

19) What’s something you wish you did more of?
– Date cute boys
– Play with puppies
– Buy all the puppies
– Travel
– Something besides work

20) If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing?
Realistically or something I wish I could do? I kind of wish I worked for myself. I’ve always loved planning events and have always thought about being a wedding planner. That aside, if I could live off of writing my blog, writing a book and/or being on YouTube (which means you need to start a GD channel, Jessie …) that would be amazing.

Go ahead and answer a few questions in the comment so I can learn more about you! 🙂

Haha, yes! #18 is completely true and I’m pretty sure most women would love that. 🙂 That would be dangerous! Ours was a couple miles down the road, so you had to drive there which stopped a few trips from happening … but not enough!

    • Jessie says:

Well, I was five so I wouldn’t be surprised if names were coerced and I don’t remember … but I like to pretend the decision was all my own. 🙂

Thanks, Candace! I still can’t believe that I won that trip – I don’t think I’ll believe it until I’m standing in Ireland. 🙂

  2. Suzannw says:

you were not coerced-you wanted to name her Rose but at the time I associated that with someone not so nice so I said that could be a middle name-then you added JenniferI
