Weekend Recap: Peonies!

A weekend recap a day late! Unfortunately I was pretty sick on Monday so I took the day off from my full-time job. I wasn’t able to get someone to cover my shift at night so I did end up working at the gym on Monday night, so I’m still not feeling so hot today. Here’s to hoping whatever bug is in my system goes away!

Besides yesterday being a bust, this past weekend was really fun! I had a half day on Friday from my full-time job and didn’t have to work my part-time job all weekend – woohoo! My Friday included a stop at Chipotle for lunch, a Facetime call with Michelle and then I got ready for dinner with my friend Gina.

I seriously need to get some new clothes, but I love this shirt … which is why I wear it all the damn time.

We started out at Hagemeister Park for a drink while waiting for a seat on the patio. After a bit there, we headed over to The Libertine for a drink before heading home.

Lots of girl talk which is always a good thing.

Saturday morning I slept in a bit and then headed to the farmer’s market with my sister on a hunt for peonies.

Found some!

After that, we went to lunch and to see Spy (pretty funny!). I came home to a couple of packages – one from AdvoCare (I’ve been out of Spark for WAY too long and I’ve always wanted to try Catalyst) and my Ipsy box.

The rest of my night was pretty low-key. I watched a ton of tv and finally watched Divergent. Holllly man, good movie. Also, I want a Four, please.

Sunday morning I slept in again and headed off to work out at the gym around 10:30. I went a little crazy with the lower body workout after basically not really working out the past few weeks so I can barely walk today, BUT … that’s okay.

I’ve unfortunately gained about 4 lbs back since my lowest weight a few weeks ago, so I’m trying to get back into some good habits!

After the gym I headed to Target and spent all of my money on groceries.

I also had a sneaky Chipotle salad as you can see in the background …

After putting away everything and eating my salad, I spent all of my money at the oil change place and got scolded for not keeping my tires up in pressure. Whoops. Also, WHY are oil changes so expensive? The GD oil is like $5 – why does it cost $60? This is why I normally drive over an hour for my cousin to do it, but I just couldn’t fit that in. Plus my car was literally out of oil so … whoops?

It was super nice out so I stopped over at the trail on my way home from losing all my money and took an hour walk with a Peach Green Tea Lemonade from Starbucks – yum.

Andddd after all that exercise I went and got a DQ blizzard and settled in with Netflix to catch up on the latest season of Pretty Little Liars. That show is addicting.

As you can see from my pictures lately, I need to get my good habits back in check when it comes to spending money, working out and eating well. I’ve pretty much put myself on a spending “frost” until I get some stuff under control. Unfortunately even though I work two jobs, I’m still living paycheck to paycheck. Not cool, life. I still want to have a fun summer, but coffees every day and lunches out a ton just aren’t something I’m able to do at this point in my life!

So that was my weekend! How was yours?

All those little things that you spend on REALLY add up! Have you ever kept a journal of what you spend money on? I used to write down everything I spent and I’d add it up at the end of the week. It was amazing how much I spent on things without realizing it. So I’d set goals for each day/week and it really worked well for awhile. Also, if you have a Sam’s Club or Costco close by, I save a TON of money there! It’s insane how much I spend, even with having to pay a yearly membership fee. Your weekend looked fun though!

They totally do add up! I think a journal is a super good idea. I tend to be like “out of sight, out of mind” which is probably how I ended up with some debt in the first place – ha! We do have a Sam’s and Costco close by! When I lived with my ex, we used to go to those type places all the time! Since it’s just me and I don’t use stuff in bulk, I’m not sure that’s a good idea for me at this point … but then again maybe if I’d just GO grocery shopping sometimes, I wouldn’t be going to Chipotle all the time!

Sounds like a good weekend (with the exception of yesteryday)! I love those flowers too & farmers market sounds like they might have a better selection than the grocery store. Spending freezes are tough! I haven’t done one in awhile but have had to cut out buying clothes/makeup/etc a few times. I was spending a lot of money on those coffee energy drinks & eventually just started making my own iced coffees (like spending $15/week… yuck). Writing things down helps too! Good luck!

It was really good! I love the flower too, but they’re already dead. 🙁 I’m so awful at keeping plants alive haha! And that’s why I want to do a “frost” instead of a “freeze” 😉 I don’t think I need to cut out everything. I rarely buy myself clothes and makeup and stuff, but I do spend a LOT of money on food and going out to eat. That’s something I still want to do sometimes, just not as often!

Go visit Auntie and bring along a scissors-peopnies in the front of the house
The booklet we bought from the boys have coupons for $10 off an oil change-remind me-I’ll give you mine too!
