Holiday Q&A

Hey, friends! I saw this fun little Q&A on Krystal’s blog the other day and it looked fun so I decided I wanted to do it. 🙂

Holiday Q&A

^^ Someone had a little too much time to play on PicMonkey

What’s your go to outfit for the winter?
Well, normally it would be fleece-lined leggings, boots and a long tunic or something. Since I’m doing Dressember this December, I’ve been wearing dresses. Thankfully it’s been warmer than normal for some reason!

What’s winter like in your hometown?
It’s freezing normally. Cold, miserable, snowy with negative temps. Why do I live in Wisconsin, again?

Special winter recipes?
A lot of chilis – anything warm that I can grab and go.

Winter holiday traditions?
Well, my dad, sister and I always pick out my parents’ tree together (which I talked about on Monday). Otherwise, I go up to my parents’ house on Christmas Eve and we watch A Christmas Carol. Then we go to my Aunt Marilyn’s on Christmas day to spend time with my aunt and some of my cousins. Super chill!

Favorite winter activities?
Not moving from my couch. 🙂

Winter home décor?
I decorate for Christmas, but not “winter” in general. Once Christmas is over, all of my decor will come down and my apartment will look the same, except maybe there will be more blankets laying around because I’m ALWAYS cold.

Beauty regimen changes for winter?
More moisturizer. Even though it’s abnormally warm right now for Wisco, it’s still cold and I’ve already noticed a change in my skin. Of course, it’s still really oily, but it turns into combination skin because I get dry patches and REALLY chapped lips and dry hands.

Favorite holiday song?
My shuffle on Pandora is Hanson Christmas, Michael Buble Christmas and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Yessssss. I’m so sad that TSO is not coming to Wisconsin at all this year. 🙁

Favorite holiday movie?
The original A Christmas Carol and the original Rudolph movie. Anyone know where I can find the Rudolph movie since I’ve missed the TV showing of it apparently?

Who hosts the family gatherings?
My Aunt Marilyn hosts them. My dad’s side of the family is huge, so we usually don’t have a super organized Christmas, but this year my cousin Luke is hosting one – of course, the same weekend I’m in Minneapolis for work. (

What changes about you in the winter?
I always reallllly struggle with the beginning of work. I go into this super weird funk. I honestly think I have the seasonal depression or mood thingy. I struggle with it so much – I’m actually just starting to get my love of life back after a weird couple of weeks where I literally couldn’t pull myself off the couch.

I also whine a LOT about the cold and have my space heater on every second of every day. Can I get a fireplace, please?

Gift wrap or gift bags?
I prefer gift wrap, but if I’m in a super hurry, I’ll use a bag.

Favorite warm drink for winter?
Hot chocolate is the BEST, but I don’t have it too often. This year I’m trying to stay on top of drinking a lot of water to keep my skin hydrated as much as possible.

What are you excited for this season?
Christmas, obviously! 🙂 I’m also excited for some snow. I hate the cold, but it’s been raining non-stop and it’s driving me crazy. Plus, there should be snow for Christmas!! I’m also very excited to have a few days off at the end of the month from both of my jobs. AND my birthday at the end of January, though I don’t have any plans. But still – birthday.

Autumn vs. Winter?
Out of those two, Autumn. The changing of the colors and nice weather is wonderful. My favorite season in general is summer, though!

What about you? Answer one of the questions above – I’d love to hear from you!

My skin has been SO dry already it’s crazy! I busted out the humidifier so hopefully that helps! And OMG I watchted the original Rudolph for the first time in a few years the other day and I never realized how old-fashioned it is towards women! Donner was like “that’s a man’s job!” and another time someone was like “get the women inside!” it was so funny lol

Haha that’s crazy! I’ve never picked up on that stuff and I’m usually the first one to notice that kind of crap. Humidifier is a great idea – I should do that!

I am so with you on the winter activity thing, haha. I hate being outside when it’s cold & keep the space heater nearby! And I am always craving soup during the winter too! I’m sorry to hear about the “funk” that you’ve been in lately. I know how that feels as far as the whole seasonal affective thing goes. I really felt crummy when we were getting all of the ice/snow the past couple weeks… it’s so depressing! I completely forgot about the original Rudolph movie! I bet Amazon has it though. My favorite Christmas movie has always been Christmas Vacation. It never gets old!
