A Challenge

Hi friends! I don’t have a ton to write about today, but I thought I’d tell you about a little challenge I’m doing with myself until my birthday on January 30. I thought it might be fun to share with you just in case some of you have done this type of thing before and I also think if I tell a bunch of people about it, maybe I’ll stick to it. 🙂

So, as I complain about all the time on this little blog, I’m broke. Right? Right. We all know this.

Hocus Pocus

With that, I’m physically feelin’ pretty awful. Basically my IIFYM did not go the way I had planned – I just wasn’t in the right mindset for it and didn’t necessarily click with my coach, though I do love her YouTube channel. Let’s just say I did lose some weight, but then fell off the bandwagon and I’m back to my starting weight from 8-weeks ago – actually almost higher.

I’ve decided for the next 38-days (I started yesterday) I will not be going out to eat (when I’m paying) and will be cutting back on expenses as much as possible. Now, this is going to be very difficult, because here are a few things I still plan on spending money on:

  • Buying the 8-week challenge with Brittany Dawn when she puts it live … if I can
  • Driving to Milwaukee, taking a SPIRE class (spin) with Tone It Up girls and going to lunch with them – this was planned last month and I’m not backing out!

Those are the only hiccups I know of and I’m not counting. Long story short, as some of you may know I canceled my credit cards a couple months ago so I’m only living on what I have, which has proven to be quite difficult during the holiday season. Plus my blog domain renewed which I was NOT ready for – $185 gone. I’m hoping at least not going out to eat will help save up some money, plus might cut out a few pounds as long as I eat healthy at home. Obviously if something really important pops up, I’ll reconsider (or if someone else is paying!) but I’m hoping to at least cut out the days I’m feeling lazy and go pick up Chipotle or Qdoba – $10/trip adds up! And Starbucks …

The reason is, I plan on spending a lot of money on myself for my 28th birthday this year because I’M GOING TO CHICAGO WITH MY FRIEND JULIE!

Some of you may know her from her blog or her Instagram, actually, but we clicked almost a year ago over Instagram about some boy drama and have been texting friends ever since. She’s flying into Chicago for the weekend on January 28 (I’ll get there the 29th) and we’re going to have a girl’s weekend to celebrate my birthday/her promotion/our finally meeting. 🙂 With that comes a hotel, gas, train ticket, parking, food, fun stuff and taxi/uber fare. So I’m trying to save up as much as I can right now.

Have you ever gone on a spending freeze? Or cut out something you LOVE? I’m hoping it’ll make me enjoy going out to eat a bit more.

That’s awesome! I never used to have an addiction to it, but I got hooked on Dunkin Donuts when I moved back to Green Bay and then Starbucks kicked in. It’s so expensive! I’ll be honest, though. It’s the easiest part for me to cut out. I like coffee, but I don’t depend on it. And I have yet to make coffee at home that I can drink without pouring it out because it’s nasty. Ha!

You got this! I actually looked at some of Brittany’s programs last night too. I’ve been following her for awhile & she seems very genuine compared to some other YouTube/IG people. It has been so long since I’ve done a spending freeze but clothes are my biggest weakness! Then, I try to justify my spending by selling old stuff on eBay or Poshmark. It’s so tough to just stop buying them all together!

    • Jessie says:

Thanks, Megan! Brittany is the bomb. I love her. Another is Heidi Somers if you’re looking for someone to follow. I mean, she’s still your typical fit lady, but she’s the absolute sweetest and happiest person. I like watching her because I’m closer to her height. 😉 Brittany is sooooo beautifully tall! Clothes are actually something I can easily cut out, but I lovvvvvve them. I miss buying clothes! You always look so cute though, so i totally support the clothing weakness. 😉

I definitely need to participate in a challenge like this. I’m always so poor and horrible at saving money. Good luck with this challenge girl, it helps that you have something exciting you are saving for!

Thanks, Jordyn! I know you understand. Money is a crazy thing. I can’t even think about saving money lately – I need all of it just to pay my bills. 🙁 Everyone keeps saying that I should be building a savings and I’m like … with monopoly money? 😉
