Best Compliment Ever Received

Good morning, friends! TGIF – am I right?

Since it’s Friday and we’re all (hopefully) happy about that, I thought it might be fun to talk about compliments today.

I feel like truthful compliments are hard to come by these days, ESPECIALLY on the internet. Have you ever read some of the comments on YouTube videos or Instagram? People can be mean behind the computer screen! (I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it.) So when you receive a genuine compliment, it’s definitely a breath of fresh air.

That happened to me last night at my event. One of my colleagues that I don’t work with very often was observing me while I was greeting guests. Sheย told me that she was watching me and that I have a “warm and inviting smile that makes everyone feel welcome.” I was totally taken back by such a genuine compliment!

I mean, I’ve had people tell me that my smile is pretty before. Or that my hair looks nice. Or that I look like I’ve lost weight. And those are ALL super sweet and nice compliments. But to have someone observe you and give you a true, true compliment – well, it’s just something I’ll remember for awhile. And honestly, it made me feel really good about myself!

Have you ever had someone give you a genuine compliment – one that they truly thought about for a bit – and it changed your perspective on things? Let me tell you, after receiving a compliment like that and feeling so happy afterwards, I’m definitely going to be handing out more compliments to others around me.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I have a fun one – getting my hair done tonight and then an event tomorrow. Tell me a compliment you’ve received or given below ๐Ÿ™‚

Love that! I once was in a patient’s room and walked out, and one of our midlevels for the hospital (who works with us frequently but is not part of my department) told me that she could tell I really care about my patients. And another time, a doctor pulled me aside and said he was really surprised at how much I advocated for a specific patient and he never realized how much I cared about my patients. Definitely made me feel good ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that’s awesome that somebody noticed that about you AND complimented you on it!

That’s so awesome! It’s nice to hear a true compliment from others sometimes. It definitely makes you want to keep on doing what you’re doing!

I totally agree with you! Getting a REAL compliment from someone can change your perspective. That is so awesome that she noticed AND took the time to tell you that you were doing an awesome job. A few months ago, I received emails from two different workers (who work in another office) about how much they really enjoy reading my notes on a case because they are easy to follow & figure out what is going on. In my field, that is definitely not something you hear very often!

    Have a great weekend!

That’s an amazing compliment!! It definitely changes your perspective on things, that’s for sure. Or it gives you confidence in an area you weren’t expecting. Though, it can be the opposite too. A lady this morning told me my face looks completely different with makeup, but it looks very natural. Of course I keep thinking “Well does my face not look good withOUT makeup, then?” haha!
