Slightly dramatic title, but I feel like it’s true! Thankfully I’m going home at noon today, so only a little bit left.
Friday I got into work and got everything packed up and ready to go. Our truck was late, so we headed out a tiny bit later than originally planned. We always get a giant truck for no reason.
We picked up one of our priests and then had to make a detour back to the church …
We finally got on the road about a half hour later than originally planned and didn’t stop until we hit Milwaukee for lunch. After lunch we headed down to Illinois to check into our hotel and set-up my pre-game party in the hotel lobby.
After the pre-game party, we headed over to Benedictine University to watch our college (St. Norbert) basketball take on Alma College.
Unfortunately we didn’t win (lost by six points!) but it was exciting nonetheless. We headed back to the hotel, had dinner (the game was over by 7 p.m. – early night) and spent the night in our own rooms. All three of the visiting college basketball teams (plus their fans) were staying in the same hotel and my room was by an elevator, so you can only imagine how much sleep I got all weekend.
The next morning I got up and headed into the crowded hotel gym to get in my shoulders + HIIT workout.
I promise it was crowded – I was just the only one in the weights section.
After my workout, I got ready and headed out to brunch with my supervisor and priest. We went to this random hole-in-the-wall restaurant and I thought I was getting a healthy breakfast, but it ended up being covered in hollandaise sauce. It was good, but I’m pretty sure I gained 900 lbs this weekend – it was one big treat weekend.
After breakfast, we drove around Illinois looking at a few other colleges and then headed back to our hotel rooms. I went and sat in the hot tub until 10 children showed up and then went and laid around in my room. At 5:30 we headed out for an early dinner at Portillos and then my supervisor and I headed over to watch the Elite 8 game with Benedictine University and Alma. Unfortunately Alma didn’t play as well as they did against us, but Benedictine is going into the Final Four with an undefeated season! It was so fun to watch.
After the game, we went back to our rooms and I went to bed. I still slept like crap because the Alma team was mourning their sorrows by running through the halls screaming, so that was fun.
Sunday started out early with another workout – this time I was completely alone.
I did my chest and back workout (skipped abs because I hate abs … whoops) and went back up to my room to get ready for my mass and brunch.
The event was in a beautiful location…
… but I was on FIRE – so irritated with the staff. Basically they had our mass in one room and brunch in another, but our mass (you know, the QUIET part) was in a room right next to the kitchen so all I heard was banging pans and people screaming in Spanish. I was so irritated, but thankfully most of the people didn’t even notice the noise. I was in the back of the room standing, so I heard more of it.
The brunch was spectacular, though.
And then we headed back to Green Bay! Long drive home. Once I got back to Green Bay, I headed over to Target to pick up a few grocery items and then went to my apartment. Long story short, my sister unexpectedly had to move into my apartment this weekend. I got home and basically tore everything apart – took a bunch to Goodwill and a bunch to the dumpster. I still have more to do today. Unfortunately I didn’t sleep very well last night – a mixture of daylight savings time and my sister’s cat and my cat deciding that my bed was a great playground at 4:30 a.m. Let’s just say I cried all the way to the gym this morning at 5:30 a.m. – I don’t do so well with being tired haha! I was able to get in a tough lower body workout today, though, and then get a bunch done at work. I only have about an hour left and then I’m leaving for the day. Unfortunately I’m leaving to do more crap at home, but whatever. Bachelor finale tonight!
How was your weekend?
