Weekend Recap: Moving + A Birthday

Hi, hi, hi – it’s my birthday and I’m sitting in a cubicle. Super happy about it. But at least I have a job, right? Right. #perspective ๐Ÿ˜‰ Let’s talk about the weekend!

On Friday, I worked from home until about 11 a.m. before Ben and I jumped on the train to Milwaukee. My sister was nice enough to drive the two hours to pick us up, then two back to Green Bay. We got a quick dinner at Chili’s (which left something to be desired …) and then back to my apartment in Green Bay to pack everything up. Ben was super patient and helpful all weekend – I honestly couldn’t have done it without him.

Saturday morning we woke up early, took my sister to work, got the U-haul and came back to my apartment just in time for my parents to get there. After a fiasco with the U-haul (it looked like I got one that was way too small but somehow Ben and my dad played the best game of Tetris), we packed up all of my things and took off for lunch. We had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Green Bay, Vintage Cantina.

Tacos and margaritas it is!ย (okay, I’m the only one that drank but #necessary)

I should also mention that Saturday was the first time Ben met my parents. They like him (it’s hard not to like him) and everything went smoothly. Especially the moving part. Ben has this weird calming effect on me so there were no tears OR panic, which is normally an all day fiasco with me on a moving day.

After lunch, we headed back to my GB apartment, said good bye to the parents and the cats ๐Ÿ™ and took off in the U-haul. AKA Ben drove the truck, I talked his ear off for 3.5 hours. He didn’t seem to mind … I think he was just happy I wasn’t having a panic attack.

Moving to Chicago

Once we got to Chicago, I went into crazy mode. I was DONE with moving, so I wanted to get the stuff unloaded from the truckย ASAP. Ben, Teressa and I unpacked the thing in less than an hour, then we took the U-haul to a drop-off location. Teressa went out with some friends and Ben and I basically collapsed onto the couch at 6:30. Of course, he put up the sweetest Instagram post which I havvvvve to show you so you all throw up.

I may strongly dislike their football team (sorry @jessiedeschane ๐Ÿ˜ฌ …but not really ๐Ÿ˜) BUT I was able to find some delicious tacos in Green Bay ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒฎ — I helped move the girlfriend from Green Bay to Chicago today. For any of y’all that have moved before, you know that it is one of life’s most stressful experiences ๐Ÿ˜“ However, we made it out alive and didn’t kill each other ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ — This is quite the accomplishment ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ…That said, I am very grateful for finding someone with such a kind heart and someone that values me as much as I value them. This is a reminder โ˜๐ŸผNEVER SETTLE FOR LESS THAN YOU DESERVE. Know your worth and find somebody that realizes it too ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ — Why am I sharing this? ๐Ÿค” Because fitness is a small (while very important) part of a happy life and I want to share these things as well. If you don’t like it, then just don’t read ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I’ll keep posting enough food porn to keep you occupied ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh that boy …

Sunday we slept in (AKA I did not get out of bed until almost noon) but Ben forced me up with pancakes. We ate, chatted with Teressa and went right back to bed where we sad around for a few hours looking for places to go for dinner. After searching, Ben and I got up to go to my apartment to unpack buttttt then he had the brilliant idea to go and get bloody marys down the street and both Teressa and I were easily swayed.

After bloodies and nachos (MMMMM), Ben and I got all dressed up and went out to Harry Caray’s to try their Restaurant Week specials. SO MUCH FOOD. No pictures because it was a special date for my birthday, but I did take this sneaky one …

I can’t help it. That cake was super handsome. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After dinner, we headed back to his apartment and watched Happy Endings with Teressa. Pretty great Sunday if you ask me.

And now it’s Monday … my 29th birthday! I almost always take my birthday off, but since I only had a half day of vacation (since I just started my job a couple weeks ago) I took it on Friday so we could get a head start on moving. I will be honest – I’m a little sad today. I miss Brooke, my closest friend back in Green Bay. I miss a lot of my friends and let’s be honest, I’d much rather be sitting on the couch than at work BUT at least I’m lucky enough to have a good job, so I’m happy about that.

29th Birthday

Okay, speaking of work, I’m going to be a good employee and see if anyone needs anything from me (my job is still ramping up). Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! Tell me about your weekend in the comments. OR your favorite way to treat yourself for your birthday.ย

Sucks you had to work on your birthday. I always try to take it off, too. But yay to being all moved to Chicago! And for having a job and a sweet bf! See you soon!

Happy now belated birthday!!! I didn’t realize you were a few months older than me, (i somehow had you in the 26-27 year old game) so maybe this means I’ll get a boyfriend and new job right before I turn 29 at the end of april? A girl can dream!
