Weekend Recap: Stan’s Donuts

Oh Monday … always coming back even when I don’t want you to. So, instead of focusing on that, let’s time travel back to Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Work started off pretty slow, which is pretty normal on Fridays. I worked out over lunch …

Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps workout

I left work around 2 p.m. on Friday in order to beat some of the traffic (it normally takes me almost 1.5-2 hours to get home on a Friday …) and then holed myself up at Starbucks. Ben met meย there and after a few hours of work, we went back to his place to start a Stranger Things marathon. We didn’t get off the couch the whole night and it.was.amazing.

Saturday started off pretty late for me. Ben got up early to go to work and I slept in until about 10, then stuck around in bed watching YouTube videos for an hour. I ran home, ate some Thai food (mmm) and got ready for the gym. Since I was done early and the weather was NICE for Chicago in February (50 degrees?!) I decided to walk the 25-minutes to Ben’s gym to workout with him.

Chicago, Illinois

We hit heavy deadlifts and squats …

I lifted 135# for 4×6 on squats and I’m SO EXCITED plus, it means that I hit another one of my February goals. It helps having someone there to push me.

After our workout, we decided to try a little taco place right down the street from our apartments. Ben loved his steak burrito, but I wasn’t blown away by my barbacoa tacos. I mean, I’d eat there again, but it wasn’t anything to write home about for me.

After our super late lunch, I walked home (I love that we live so close) to shower and do a few things around my place. PLUS, I had my newest package sitting on my doorstep (found here on Etsy)!

I walked back to Ben’s apartment and we ended up going to Starbucks to get a couple hours of work done. After some productiveness, we headed BACK to Ben’s apartment (I love being able to walk everywhere) to figure out dinner. The night turned into watching more Stranger Things (I’m hooked!), drinking wine and doing laundry. Party animals!

Sunday started off late for me again – Ben got up early, but I just couldn’t pull myself out of bed until 9:30. I’ve been so tired lately! Anyways, thankfully we were both moving slow so we didn’t get out of the apartment until 10, but we had a special destination …

Stan's Donuts

Stan’s Donuts!

I wanted a donut and I’ve been complaining to Ben all week. In my defense, it’s his fault because he got me one on Wednesday when I was sick so now that’s all I’ve wanted. Well, Ben decided we needed a dozen …

Stan's Donuts

We decided to try them all … I had a piece of almost a dozen donuts (I gave up…)

Stan's Donuts

After the sugar coma, we walked over to Starbucks (imagine that!) and Ben worked on his business stuff while I worked on blog stuff. I’m looking to either buy a full new design for my blog or just purchase a template. Hmmmmmm…..

3+ hours later, we both went to our own apartments, ate an extremely late lunch (those donuts killed my appetite) and then headed out to the suburbs to IKEA. I found two things I needed for my apartment storage.ย We were in and out of there in one hour!

We headed to Ben’s parents’ house for a quick dinner and then off to his hockey game. They won 8-4, I believe. Ben was *only* in the penalty box twice (hahaha).

Ben's Hockey League Game

The game let out around 9:15, so we headed back to the city to get ready for the next day. And that was my weekend!

How was your weekend?

Now I get why you want to live downtown! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s too bad that traffic isn’t decent going in the opposite direction (what I am asssuming you are doing…). Those donuts look insane… I have visited Chicago only once, but I may need to go back just to eat donuts!!!
