Weekend Recap: Girl Friend Time!

Goooood morning and happy Monday I just wrote Sunday!  It’s so beautiful out today and all I want to do is hang out outside!

I had a fantastic weekend and I’m so sad it went by so quickly! My friend Saige from Milwaukee came to visit Friday-Saturday and it was so much fun.

Friday we worked from home for awhile together, then she went out around lunch to meet up with her family. We met up again around 5, got ready at my place and headed to a little restaurant/bar called Charlatan near my apartment for a drink.

We met up with “da boys” – aka Ben and her husband, Joel around 7:30, put in our name at Yuzu Sushi for dinner (hour and a half wait, come ON Chicago) and then headed over to Roots for a drink while we waited. Saige and Joel have met Ben, but it was in a huge party setting so this was the first time we all got to sit down and hang out. Also, it was my first “double-date” in like 5+ years?

Yuzu texted us awhile later and we headed over to grab out table. We shared a few apps, a bottle of wine (the restaurant was BYOB so Ben brought some over) and then got some sushi!

After dinner, Joel had to head out to his brother’s so he dropped Saige, Ben and me back off at Charlatan where we had ANOTHER drink. Let me just say – all three of us rarely drink, so it was a bit more than we were all used to.

Saturday morning was a slow start for us, but Saige and I took the time to do some face masks and then get ready slowly. It was GORGEOUS outside, so we headed out to Tuco & Blondie for a late lunch.

Our food was fantastic, plus it was so light and airy in there!

After lunch, we headed downtown to do a little shopping. We only got through Zara and half of H&M, but I managed to buy a few things. I’ll do a haul soon!

Saige ordered an Uber once we got home and headed out to spend time with her fam. Ben picked me up and we headed out to the suburbs. We watched the Blackhawks game (boooo) at Buffalo Wild Wings and then headed to his hockey game. Neither team won, but Ben was hilarious to watch… only because he got a penalty within the first 10 seconds of the game. He then managed to get out of the box and immediately score a goal. Fun game!

Sunday Ben and I got up and went to do some work at Starbucks. Do to unforeseen circumstances that hopefully I can tell you more about at some time (grrrr, why do I always do that?!) I didn’t go to Easter with my family or his. I did manage to step out of the apartment a little bit, though.

And now it’s Monday! I’m working from home today, but thinking about taking a walk to Starbucks here soon. Haven’t decided if it’s just to get a coffee, or to get some work done there for awhile. We’ll see… either way, back to the suburbs tomorrow!

How was your weekend?

So jealous of those views! I keep talking about going back to Chicago with Jon. We went for a long weekend years ago, but it’s been awhile. And it was for an Army thing, so a lot of our time was taken up while we were there. We did do a river cruise thing that was pretty awesome though. I’m so curious about your Easter situation. Hopefully nothing too bad. I love double dates! It’s nice to get out with other people. Sounds like you had fun with Saige, too! Friend visits are the best!

Gorgeous, huh? 🙂 Though Charleston has great views, too. Nope, nothing bad with Easter! Just trying to figure everything out before sharing it on the internet. Double dates are so much fun. I’m obsessed with them now!
