Time for a monthly book review! I love that I’ve gotten to read a ton more books (or listen to, rather) since finding Audible earlier this year! Read last month’s book review here!
- “Mastering Your Mean Girl” by Melissa Ambrosini
Okay, I’ll be honest about this one. I thought it was going to be an entirely different topic. I thought it would be about how not to be a “nice” girl and stand up for yourself. Whoops. STILL, I loved this book. Now, it’s super flowery. Think “Repeat mantras to yourself every day” and “You can do it sista!” – some people don’t love that. I, for one, did. I think I needed this book after having a particularly negative start to my year job-wise. But if that stuff doesn’t bother you, I highly recommend. It was all about “mastering your mean girl” or that mean, inner voice of self-doubt that stops you from doing the things you want to do. Also, Melissa reads it and she’s got an Australian accent so … BONUS.
- “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg
I’m not fully finished with this one, but almost so I figured I’d still write about it. I’m not loving this book. Some people love it and I do like all of the research and stories (there’s even a football story in there, so I like that) but it’s much drier than a lot of the books I’ve been reading. I’m just not excited to jump at it and listen, so yeah. I’d still recommend it though if you’re interested in hearing how crazy our habits are and how they’re constantly affecting our lives.
And finally, I actually re-listened to “You are a Badass” – that’s the THIRD time now that I’ve read/listened to it. It’s just an all-encompassing self-help, get your life together book. My boyfriend is reading it and he loves it, too.
