31st Birthday Week Recap | Polar Vortex 2019

Happy Friday, friends! I feel like this has been a long week, but in a good way! Besides today, I’ve worked from home every single day (apart from Wednesday – my actual birthday – when I took off) and it was GLORIOUS. I love working from home so much. The only bad part is the reason we were working from home is because the weather was NASTY in Chicago – think -50 degree windchills.

So anyway, this week has been a good one. On Monday I worked from home because the snow storm had been so bad that the buses were running incredibly late/full, so I waited 30 minutes for a bus before walking back home. Tuesday I took over the Instagram stories of my friends over at Glowout while working from home, which made it a lot easier. And then Wednesday was my actual birthday!

We had all these ideas of going to one of my favorite restaurants for lunch since it’s Chicago Restaurant Week, but honestly with those windchills most places closed down in Chicago + we just weren’t leaving the house, so we made the best of it.

I woke up to a fun birthday sign and card from Ben before he made me coffee and breakfast. Ben had a tiny bit of work to get done, so he finished that while I played on my phone. Around lunch time, we started our Orange is the New Black Netflix marathon and ordered in Qdoba via Door Dash.

31st Birthday Week Recap | Polar Vortex 2019The rest of the afternoon was literally spent watching OITNB together and not doing a thing. We did quickly run across the street to Starbucks for my free drink (where the barista was super rude, actually) which was TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT in the freezing cold. We spent the rest of the night hanging out, making dinner together and reading a couple of books.

And that was my quick and fun birthday week! I wish we could’ve gotten out to do something fun on my birthday, but that’s the problem with January birthdays. 😉 We’re hoping to get in a nice lunch somewhere this weekend when it warms up a bit. How has your week been?
