Men’s Stitch Fix Haul & Review

Before I get into the Stitch Fix haul, I want to mention my Vlogmas videos that have gone out in the last few days, just in case you’re not subscribed to me (why nottttt?) I was EXTREMELY honest in these videos!

Thursday’s Vlogmas:

On Thursday, I give you the complete low-down on my Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis diagnosis and what I’m planning to do about it.

Friday’s Vlogmas:

On Friday (today!) I take you through a fun night of me meal prepping some stuff for Ben and I. I promise it’s funny, especially toward the middle, when I start to get a little loopy from talking to myself all night. 😂

Okay, on to the real post! Ben’s second Stitch Fix box came in and, again, he allowed me to take pictures of him!

Stitch Fix Piece 1: Hawker Rye – Essential Wash Stretch Straight Fit Chino (burgundy), $78

Men's Stitch Fix Haul & ReviewFirst, let me just say, I did not realize Ben had this shirt and I lovvvve it on him and want him to wear it all the time. ❤️ Okay, back to the pants!

Ben really liked these pants and had been looking for something like this, but the almost $80 price tag just wasn’t working for him. However, after doing a little research online, he decided they were worth it and kept them!

Stitch Fix Piece 2: Hawker Rye – Essential Heather Vee Tee (Medium), $28

Men's Stitch Fix Haul & Review
I didn’t really love this shirt on him and he gets really nice t-shirts like this that fit him better from Banana Republic, so he decided to send this back.

Stitch Fix Piece 3: Flag & Anthem – Dublin Sweater Fleece Vest (Medium), $69.50

Men's Stitch Fix Haul & Review
Ben had asked for a vest to go with the button-down he got last time (which he’s wearing in this pic) and this did.not.work. First of all, it was WAY too big in the stomach area and we really didn’t like the color. I’m not sure how the stylist thought this would look okay with the shirt, but hey … just didn’t work, so he sent it back.

Stitch Fix Piece 4: Free Nature – Backwoods Brushed Flannel Shirt (Medium), $44

Men's Stitch Fix Haul & ReviewI hated this piece, haha, plain and simple. Ben didn’t hate it, but wasn’t a fan. He returned it.

Stitch Fix Piece 5: Julian & Mark – Normandy Stretch Plaid Flannel Shirt (Medium), $49.50

Men's Stitch Fix Haul & ReviewAlso not a huge fan of this shirt, and neither was been so back to Stitch Fix it went! Returned.

Ben was a little less excited about this box than his last one. I think he’s going to be pausing it for this next month because he needs to save some money around the holidays. Either way, he likes having Stitch Fix, but he’s just hoping his next one fits his personality and style a little bit better!

Did you like any of the items above?

Stitch Fix Haul #3

Okay, time for the third Stitch Fix haul for me! In case you missed it, I’ve done these before plus I just did one for Ben earlier this week.  I’m not sure how long I’ll continue with Stitch Fix, but for now, it’s quite fun!

My Fix

Stitch Fix Piece 1: Le Lis – Yola Flutter Sleeve Off The Shoulder Blouse (small petite), $58

Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! What can I say about this piece? I understand why my stylist sent it to me – I specifically told her I loved feminine pieces – but I guess this was just not it. It didn’t fit right and I hate that I could barely move my arms without the sleeves flying up to the tops of my shoulders. This was returned.

Stitch Fix Piece 2: 41 Hawthorn – Poppi Textured Pullover (small), $68

Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! Folded up, I did not like this piece but once it was on, I loved it. I liked how fitted it was and how easy it would be to layer. But then I saw the price tag. No way in heckin’ bob I’m paying almost $70 for a layering shirt. I returned this. 🙁

Stitch Fix Piece 3: Octavia – Brooklyn Crossbody Bag, $48

Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! This is actually the last thing I opened, but decided to move it up in the post a bit, just for a surprise. 😉 I thought these were shoes and I saw the color and since I already own red boots, I figured I wouldn’t be keeping it. When I opened it, to my surprise it was a purse! I have a hot pink Kate Spade Crossbody purse that I love (similar here), but it’s too small to carry all the things I’d like to carry. Then I have a big Kate Spade bow purse (similar here), but it’s way too clunky to be carrying around when I’m commuting on trains in Chicago, so that’s just a *nice occasions* bag.

Anyways, loved this bag and I can fit so much in it without it being too crazy to carry with me. Kept this.

Stitch Fix Piece 4: Sophie Rue – Ingledside Embroidery Detail Knit Pullover (small), $48

Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! I hated this haha. I will say, once it was on, I thought it looked pretty, but just because it was black. A big no for me, plus Ben told me I looked like a Russian dancer of shorts. #what

Stitch Fix Piece 5: Liverpool – Jacqueline Skinny Pant (6 petite), $78

Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! Stitch Fix Haul #3 | Time to take a look through this month's Stitch Fix box! You pretty much have to be these Athleta leggings that I rave about all the time for me to pay THAT much for you and these definitely were not. Ben loved them – said they looked super classy since they were structured with pockets. For me, 1 they were a little bit too small so my stomach bulged over them and 2, THE WHOLE REASON I WEAR LEGGINGS IS SO I HAVE A STRETCH WAIST BAND. Hello?! Why would I wear leggings that FEEL like jeans? Makes no sense. Sent back.

Overall Thoughts

Unfortunately I wasn’t super thrilled with this box either, though to be honest, I can’t imagine loving all the items and dropping $200 in one sitting haha. BUT I did love the purse that I got so to me, it was worth it. Will try again for #4 – I asked for REAL leggings and possibly something fun to wear for my 30th birthday in January when we’re in Florida!

Men’s Fashion: Ben’s First Stitch Fix

Guess what I did?? Convinced the boyfriend to try out Stitch Fix. 😊  He even modeled for me!

I thought I’d do a quick post on this. I know a lot of you that read my blog have men in your life (or you’re single and STILL KILLIN’ IT) and I’m assuming, if anything like my boyfriend, have no idea about fashion. I mean, to be fair, I know nothing about men’s fashion. All I know is Ben owns a suit for weddings and a BUNCH of athleisure because he’s a personal trainer and when he’s not at the gym, he’s working from home. So … why would he get all dressed up?

He wanted to get a few pieces that he could wear out to dinner or just out of the house in general, so when my first Stitch Fix box came with a free trial for him, he decided to set it up. It took him awhile to answer all the questions (mainly because he kept trying to help him) but then he was on his way. His box came in a few weeks later and here’s what he got!

Men's Fashion: Ben's First Stitch Fix - Take a look at how we style my boyfriend's first Stitch Fix box!
Look at him bein’ all bloggy and stuff. 😉

The first item he tried on was the white and blue button-down he’s wearing above, which he wasn’t a fan of. Just not something he’d wear very often. He also tried on the jeans, but then ran in his closet and realized he had two pairs of jeans UNOPENED from a year prior that he never wore. 🙈  So, it’s kind of like he got new jeans because it reminded him of the ones from last year … lol. #boys

Men's Fashion: Ben's First Stitch Fix - Take a look at how we style my boyfriend's first Stitch Fix box!
The second shirt he tried on was this red and blue button-down. We liked it, but he has one very similar so to me, it wasn’t worth getting another since he’ll rarely wear it.

Men's Fashion: Ben's First Stitch Fix - Take a look at how we style my boyfriend's first Stitch Fix box!
The final item he tried on was this shirt. It has a flannel-esque look to it, without actually being flannel. I think it’d look even better with a puffer vest or something, but it looks good on it’s own as well. As you can see again, loving the Sperrys and he did keep those.

Oh, and I did have a better photo than that one of the shirt ^^ but it’s just too cute with Cora.

So, all in all he kept the Sperrys and the flannel shirt in the last picture, PLUS basically got two free pairs of jeans that he forgot about in his closet HAHA. He ordered a second box and hopefully we’ll have our lights set up by then so there’s better lighting. 😉

Stitch Fix Haul #2

It’s that time of the month again – the good kind! 😂

I can honestly say that I definitely loved my first box more than this one, but I still found some fun things I liked.

My Fix

Stitch Fix Haul #2Stitch Fix Piece 1: Justin Taylor – Nina Floral Print Infinity Scarf, $28

I really liked this piece once I had it on, but not so much when I first picked it up. Again, with scarves, I just can’t see myself spending almost $30 on a scarf when I can buy them on Jane.com for like $10. I did return this.

Stitch Fix Haul #2 Stitch Fix Haul #2Stitch Fix Piece 2: Z Supply Keran Side Slit Knit Pullover, $50

I didn’t like this at all. I didn’t like the slit, the color, or the way it was made. The slit on the side wasn’t hemmed and the slit was already starting to roll, so I know after I would wash it, it’d get worse. In my opinion, it was not worth $50, so I returned it.

Check out what I decided to keep / return from Stitch Fix! | Stitch Fix Haul #2Stitch Fix Piece 3: August Mist Allister Cold Shoulder Dress, $48

Please ignore my weird feet + wrapped broken toes 😂

Loved this piece! It looked really nice on and showed off my waist. The sleeves (I almost just wrote arm-holes 🙄) are a little big because I’ve lost all my #gains and quite honestly, why am I getting a summer dress at the end of October? I kept it because I’ll just pair it with a jacket or something (which takes away the “funness” of the sleeves) and I know I’ll love it when we go to Florida in January / I go to Arizona in February. I gave feedback that I’d prefer climate-appropriate dresses in the future, but I did keep this item!

Stitch Fix Haul #2 Stitch Fix Haul #2Stitch Fix Piece 4: RD Style Jana Poncho Pullover, $78

I hated this piece. It looked ridiculous on, I do not like the “slit” thing going on (and wish they wouldn’t have sent me two pieces with that trend) and $78 – are you kidding me? No way, Jose – returned it.

Stitch Fix Haul #2 Stitch Fix Haul #2Stitch Fix Piece 5: Andrew Marc Performance Rosella Mesh Back Performance Legging, $50

Initially I didn’t like the fabric on these and was 100% sure they’d be see-through in the 🍑, but they actually fit super well! In the end, I decided I’d rather spend a little more money on a pair of Athleta leggings, so I returned them. Plus, to be honest, I don’t need workout pants … I need leggings I can wear to work and I don’t think the mesh part is “work appropriate” even at a casual office.

Overall thoughts:

Wasn’t “in love” with my Stitch this time, but it’s literally my second box, so they’re still learning my size/style so I’m not worried about it. Definitely will continue through next month. Ben actually signed up last night, too, so maybe I’ll get a male’s perspective this month. 🙂

If you’re interested in trying out Stitch Fix, here’s my referral link!

OH, and PS – if anyone has any ring light/box light suggestions, let me know. Now that we’re getting into the awful seasons of coldness and no sun in Chicago, I need a light for pictures. Let me know!

My New Favorite Fall Outfit From Red Dress Boutique

Happy November! I’m all about dresses throughout the year. I find them so easy to style. I can make them fancy, work appropriate or casual depending what I pair it with. And, since it’s cold here now (yayyyy Midwest …) I also love that I’m able to make my dresses work for the cold weather, even if they were initially a summer dress.

Now, sweater dresses are their own breed – and probably my favorite. No, you can’t really wear them in the summer, BUT since we have more months being cold (grrrr…) it’s worth spending a few buckaroos $$ on dresses I can only wear in the Fall/Winter.

With that, here is my newest favorite sweater dress from Red Dress Boutique.

P.S. I put a few other options at the bottom of the page if you prefer a different brand, but I really love this one. It does run rather large since it’s supposed to be over

My New Favorite Fall Outfit From Red Dress BoutiqueAnd the best part?

It’s only $28.

Second best part?

POCKETS. 👏🏼

Since I was stuck on the couch all week with a broken toe that completely immobilized me, I decided one day to put on this little number, do my makeup and my hair, just to feel pretty for a little bit, even if I was just sitting in the house all day. Ben was super sweet and made me go outside quick “just to take a picture of how cute you are” so I painfully pulled on a boot (similar here and here), threw on my new favorite hat and one of my favorite scarves from last year on Jane (similar here and here).

What is your favorite Fall fashion item this year?

Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three Ways

In full transparency, Shophopes was kind enough to gift me some of the items below in exchange for my honest opinion, plus I spent a bit more of my own $$.  I’ve been wearing Shophopes clothes for years, so it was super exciting to get to work with them! Make sure to checkout the discount code down below!

GUYS. I’ve officially come to terms with the fact that it’s Fall and I need to start dressing like it. Of course, Midwest seasons are finicky, so it’ll be 50 one day and 85 the next (like the day I shot these pics…😐) so having pieces I can layer are the best. I bought two new pieces from Shophopes with the help of a gift from them and I’m excited to show you how I made them into fun outfits for the Fall and Winter.

First up is this Lead the Way dress, which is the perfect layering dress. I actually styled it two ways and I can’t choose my favorite! I’m wearing a small.

I paired this blanket scarf and booties with my favorite new layering dress! | Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three Ways I paired this blanket scarf and booties with my favorite new layering dress! | Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three Ways I paired this blanket scarf and booties with my favorite new layering dress! | Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three WaysCora the Cone Head wanted to be a model, too. 🐶

I layered up this dress with a nice big blanket scarf (anyone else have to wear their hair up when they wear a scarf? Drives me crazy to keep it down!) and some booties. I’m in the market for some new booties and these are looking pretty sweet

And when it’s not 85 degrees out (like as I write this – it’s 60) I’ll be bringing in some fun tights!

I actually have a second look with this dress that I’ve already worn to work. I love this dress because I think there’s so many ways to dress it up or down, making it as fancy or cozy as you’d like.

I paired this Shophopes dress with a long necklace and OTK boots! | Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three Ways I paired this Shophopes dress with a long necklace and OTK boots! | Shophopes: Two Fall Pieces, Three Ways I paired it with a long, dangly necklace and some casual OTK boots. I love this look, especially for when it’s not SUPER cold out and I don’t necessarily need a big blanket scarf.

And, as you can tell, I was having a hard time putting down my coffee so it was in every.single.pic. 😂

The next item I got was this distressed black & white sweater (which unfortunately is no longer on the website, but I’m loving this one). I did end up getting a medium so it’s *pretty* big, but that seems to work out with oversized sweaters, so it’s still pretty dang cute!

For the sweater, I paired it with my super soft leggings from Athleta that I talked about in my Stitch Fix blog and some red OTK boots for a bit of flare. I absolutely LOVED this outfit and can’t wait to wear it again. So comfy, but yet looks put together – my favorite type of look.

If you’d like to take a look at Shophopes’ stuff, they ALWAYS have free shipping and they gave me a discount code for the next couple weeks! Use Jessie10 at the checkout to get 10% off! 🎉  The discount code is good through 10/31/17. I’m actually planning to use my own discount code and buy some of their OTK boots – ha! I’m obsessed.

What are some of your favorite way to style and layer clothes once it gets colder out? Any ideas for how I can style these differently?

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin’ to be a fashion blogger!

Ok, so I love fashion. I never BUY fashionable items, but I still love it. I’m starting to incorporate a few good pieces into my closet since I’m almost 30 and I should *probably* get rid of the clothes I got going into my sophomore year of college. #heyo

So now I’m trying out Stitch Fix! I’m in no way sponsored by Stitch Fix, but that is a referral link, just so you know! And as you can tell, I’m a HELLA qualified fashion blogger. 🙄  Don’t mind the perfectly timed photos taken with my iPhone with Ben sitting at his desk trying to work and I’m in between a mattress and a garbage can … oh, and a puppy with a cone head. Told ya – SO MUCH FASHION.

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!
The Process

First of all, for those of you that have never used Stitch Fix, I filled out a questionnaire online and sent a link to my Fashion Pinterest page – easy peasy!

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!
Once I got my package and made my choices, I went online, paid the money for the piece I kept (the $20 styling fee went toward it which was AWESOME) and told them why I didn’t like the other pieces. Then I packaged everything up in a bag they provided and sent it off in the mail.

My Fix

I ordered my SF a couple weeks ago and had it sent at the beginning of the year. I was so excited when it came in! It even came with a little present for Ben …

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!… socks! Which honestly is GREAT marketing in my opinion. Now Ben will probably try out SF because he got some $$ off and free socks.

Moving on to my stuff …

Stitch Fix Piece 1: Returned

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!I loved this scarf, but it was $38 and I’m just not paying that for a scarf. Plus, I’m more of an infinity scarf girl or serious blanket scarf (though this one claimed to be, but it was more rectangular than square). Back it went!

Stitch Fix Piece 2: Kept

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!I.Loved.This.Cardigan.

What you don’t see in this post is that I just finally splurged on some high quality leggings from Athleta because my three-year old Zella Leggings have a huge hole in the thigh that I’ve just been ignoring for oh, two years. ANYWAYS, I can’t wait to wear my new leggings and this big ol’ cardi. And a shirt, obvs.

It was SO soft and long, but still fit my arm length which always makes me nervous with over-sized anything. I’m a small human, so loved that it was made that way!

Stitch Fix Pieces 3&4: Both Returned

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!#FashionBlogger

I loveddddd these jeans (and I hate jeans) – they were petite, so they fit my length perfectly and the tears weren’t too huge. Problem was, they were a little to small and for $88, I’m not paying that unless they’re a hells yes!

The top was another fix. Ben LOVED it, I felt like it was too “grandma-ey” so that was returned as well.

Stitch Fix Pieces 5: Returned

My First Stitch Fix Haul | Tryin' to be a fashion blogger! Nothing like trying to figure out that fashion blogger life, am I right?!(Peep Cora in the background #coneofshame)

I *almost* kept this dress. Ben loved it and I thought it was really pretty (especially for a wedding I have next month) but I felt it was too similar to a dress I already have so I just couldn’t bring myself to pay $50+ for it. Really loved it, though!

Overall Thoughts

SO MUCH FUN! First of all, it was fun to get a few pieces sent to me and figure out what worked. I feel like my stylist really listened to me and it was only my first fix! I’ll probably never keep the whole box because $$$ but I think it’s fun to do once a month or so and see what items I can get. Super excited to do it again!

What did y’all think? I love reading post like this, so I hope you like it, too. Let me know if you’ve ever tried Stich Fix in the comments below!

Gymshark Flex Leggings Review

Okay, if you’re into the YouTube or Instagram fitness culture at all, you’ve probably heard of Gymshark. If you aren’t, well … you’ve probably heard me talk about Gymshark. 😉

Their Flex leggings are now my most favorite workout pants that I own! Here’s a few reasons why:

Price: $38 + free shipping

Let’s start with the most important question first – price. I’ve now bought three pairs of the Flex Leggings (and one of the seamless leggings). And I’ll be honest … before I bought these, the most I’ve ever spent on workout clothes was $16 so $38 seemed expensive. Next to Lulu $100+ leggings, $38 is a steal! Don’t get me wrong, I want to get some Lulu’s someday, but these are my “I can afford more than $16 TJ Maxx leggings, butttttt mama’s gotta eat so can’t have Lulu yet.”

Squat Proof: Yes

I have a booty, in case you haven’t noticed. So issues with pants being squat proof arise all.the.time. These pants are amazingly squat proof. I think the lighter ones might be a tiny bit more sheer than the other colors, but I’ve still worn them on leg day and have never been self-conscious.

Sweat Proof: Yes

Okay, so I haven’t noticed any sweat marks or issues like that, HOWEVER it’s still kinda cool outside here so I haven’t been in 90+ degree humidity yet. But so far, so good!

Fit: Awesome-sauce

I was worried that the pants wouldn’t fit me the best since they’re not technically high-waisted and I hold a lot of bloat in my stomach all the time. Since my pants aren’t overly tight, I pull them up to be pretty high-waisted which makes me feel pretty comfortable. I will say because I’m super short, the full-length pant is a little long, but I don’t mind that they scrunch on the bottom. That’s good for you tall ladies, though!

Also, the booty contouring? Da best.

Comfort: Amazing, except when I’m bloated

This is not the pants fault ^^ Since I struggle with food intolerances and I’m still working through some eating issues, my stomach is bloated quite a bit. The pants are SUPER comfortable and flattering, but they do dig into my stomach a bit when it’s bloated. When it’s not, we’re all good! Or I just pull them up as high as I can so it contains the bloat. 😉

*P.S. This is obviously not sponsored, though I’d probably hysterically cry if Gymshark ever sponsored me. 🙂 Just a true fan!

What is your favorite workout outfit?

JORD Watches for Men

I was lucky enough to win Marette’s contest on her blog with JORD Watches last month. Since it was close to Valentine’s Day, I used the gift code I won to buy Ben a watch.

I loved the women’s watches, but Ben only has a “workout” watch, so I thought it’d be fun to buy him a nice one that he could wear casually (or really dressed up, though the man is rarely out of workout clothes so …)

The packaging itself is gorgeous, don’t you think?

Jord Watches for Men

Ben picked out the Delmar Dark Sandalwood and Blue Carbon watch.

JORD watches for men

He loves it and I think it’s a gorgeous (in a manly way, of course). It’s different than most watches you’ll find, plus most of them are affordable, especially compared to super high-end brands.

JORD Watches for Men

Can’t wait to get one for myself soon! 🙂

eShakti Dress Review

As you all know (especially if you follow me on Instagram …) I am a dress girl. Casual apparel to me is a sweater dress and boots, unless I’m working out. Business casual? A dress. Business professional? Pencil skirt and blazer. Whatever I’m dressing for (unless it’s the gym) I’m almost always in a dress.

A few weeks ago, eShakti reached out to me to try one of their dresses and tailor it to fit me and my style perfectly. Not only was I able to customize the size, but I was able to customize the length (since I’m a short human, this was AWESOME) and other little parts of the dress. I’m always nervous to purchase dresses online because I’m not sure how it’ll fit my exact shape, so I’ll definitely be using their website again. It was an extremely simple process! It took a couple of weeks for my order to process and be shipped and I’m sooooo happy with it! It’s “casual”, yet something I can still wear to work if I dress it up with boots and jewelry.

eShakti Review

Someday I’ll have a professional camera and/or camera man (<— Ben doesn’t know what he’s getting into) but for now, you get badly lit selfies. It wouldn’t be a fashion post from me if they weren’t selfies, am I right? 🙂

eShakti Review

The dress is SO well made. The material is thick and comfortable and there are USEFUL pockets! You understand, ladies. Dresses with pockets are the best, but when the pockets are useful? Amazing.

My only “issue” with the dress was a personal one. I’m not used to wearing high-neck shirts/dresses, so the collar started to bother me by the end of the day, hence why some of the pictures have the buttons undone. I think it looked just as cute undone, so it didn’t end up being an issue.

I’ve worn the dress to work a few times and have had a few coworkers comment on how cute it looked! The dress even passed the Thanksgiving test – didn’t show my food baby AND I still looked presentable. 🙂

Have you ever heard of eShakti? Make sure to check them out on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter! I had hoped to have a discount code for you, but they never sent me one. If I get one in the near future, I’ll highlight it in another post! 🙂
