February 2017 Goals

I’m just going to tell you right now that I love Mindy’s blog and she does her monthly goals this way. It totally inspired me to do them as well!

Health & Fitness Goals:
Lose 3-5#. My body weight has been fluctuating a ton lately due to stress and not eating well. I’d like to get back into a routine.
Begin program with Ben. (P.S. If you’re looking for in-person training in Chicago OR online training, my guy is THE BEST in my completely unbiased opinion.)
3 days of cardio per week. I hate cardio, so I always find a way out of it. I sit ALL day, plus sit in the car, so I need to amp that up.
Pull 140-150# in deadlifts. I’ve been stuck at 135#, 4×6 for the last month. I could pull more, but I’m chicken.
Squat 120-130#. Same as DL. I’m chicken.
Start consistently tracking macros. I’ve fallen off this wagon (more like completely crashed and burned) so time to jump back on.
Try yoga. I’ve been talking about this for MONTHS. I need to try.

Business & Financial Goals:
Figure out plan for future professional life. Slightly vague, but I just want to be sure I’m safely thinking about my future. Ben’s going to help me put together a plan of attack.
Start looking into freelance writing and social media. I’ve been putting this off, but after talking with a new friend Rebecca I’d really like to dip my toes back into freelance. My ultimate goal someday is to be able to work for myself, so I might as well start now! Especially once I want to start a family (I’m obviously speaking entirely of a family of puppies) I’d like to have some flexibility with my schedule.
Pay off $500 in debt. My salary is higher than it was at my previous job. While cost of living is HELLA expensive here, I’d like to take these first few months making big chunks of payments on my personal debt. I saw this on Mindy’s blog and I think it’s a spectacular idea!
Write at least 3 blog posts per week. I’ve been struggling with this, so I need to get back on a schedule.
Post at least 1 YouTube video. I miss YT, but I’m going to start off slow.
Write love story with Ben and post on blog/social media platforms. 🙂

Life Goals:
Download Audible. I’ve been listening to the same music over and over again on my 2+ hour commute per day. I need to get into listening to some books!
Finish setting up apartment. While I’m feeling less overwhelmed than I was, I’d still like to get everything situated. Plus, I’d like to start having visitors!
Figure out daily meditation or journaling. I need to get back into a routine and since my brain is always in overdrive, I think this would be a great way to start or end the day off right.

I think that’s a good start! What are some of your goals for February?

December 2016 Goals

Good morning, friends! And happy Friday – FINALLY.

Marette’s December Goals post inspired me to write out a few goals of my own. December always seems to fly by (even though this week felt SO LONG) so I’m hoping this will help keep me on task!

December Goals

  • Stay present. This is a hard one for me, especially when I’m filling my time with work, job searching, blogging, vlogging, working out, etc. Last year was one of the worst Christmas seasons for me because it never “felt like Christmas.” And that’s all on me. I want to try to stay present this December and enjoy every day, even the stressful ones.
  • Vlogmas. I’m planning to film myself every day up until Christmas for Vlogmas, a series that’s pretty popular on the YouTubes. I may not post a video every day (if I don’t have enough footage), but I really want to stick to it this year!
  • Stay on track. As some of you know if you follow me on Snapchat (justjessie23) I’m trying to get down ~8 lbs (currently 9 – thanks, body) by my birthday at the end of January. I made a bet with myself (and my boyfriend, who will unfortunately hold me to it UGH) that if I don’t get there, I have to run a 5k, which to me is like making me burn myself slowly in the eye with a hot iron. (dramatic much?) I hate running! So with that, I’d like to stay on track with 5-6 workouts per week and stay on track with my food. HOWEVER, I do not plan on being SO strict that I can’t have fun through the holidays. Plus, I’ll be traveling a bunch for work and to be in Chicago, so we’ll see how I do.
  • Not be so hard on myself. Job searching sucks, guys. So does struggling losing weight. Or having difficulties with things in my personal life. Or getting sick. Or figuring out wtf to get your new boyfriend for Christmas (HELP). I am so hard on myself sometimes and I need to be better about giving myself a break.

What are some of your goals this month?

Let’s have coffee

I love these types of posts. Whether it’s coffee, tea, diet code red mountain dew (my teeth are going to rot off, I swear) … I love getting coffee with a friend and catching up. Since I don’t have many in-person coffee dates planned, let’s have one together!

Coffee Date

If we were having coffee …

I’d tell you about the awesome, life-changing and uplifting trip I had to Chicago last week. Do any of you ever just “click” with someone, something, some place? That’s how I felt with Chicago. I’ve always liked it there, but this last time just solidified things for me. Even a few of you who watched my video noticed how happy I was, which is crazy to me that you can see that!

I’d ask you a million and one questions, because that’s what I do. I love hearing about things happening in my friends lives, whether it’s how passionate they are about their work, a new person joining their family, a funny date story … I love it. So how about you tell me something about you in the comments? I’d love to hear it. 🙂

I’d probably spill some of my drink on myself, let’s be real.

I’d tell you about a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders. After over a year of being denied by loan refinancing companies, one finally refinanced my loan based on my credit score instead of solely based on my very low salary. So, my payments were supposed to go up to $867 in January (per month) … and the loan refinancing company cut that in half. It’s a HUGE weight off my shoulders and a little more manageable. Seriously, check out SoFi if you’re struggling with student loans (or any type of personal debt).

You’d probably ask me about my dating life because, well … that’s what people ask single people. It’s okay, though. I’m used to it. I’d tell you I’m not actively seeking anyone, not online dating, none of that. I’d tell you that I’ve given up on the dating scene where I live a long time ago because I have no intention of staying in the area forever, which obviously hinders my dating life. Now, if you prod a little bit more, I’d probably tell you about someone that currently has my “attention”, so to speak, but I’m nervous about it. Girl has been burned quite a few times, so I am apprehensive. But you would be able to see past the nervousness and see that I’m more excited than nervous. We’ll see what happens. 🙂 (<— I’m THE BEST at being vague enough that ya’ll will hate me)

I’d ask you your opinion on what to wear for a wedding next month because girl is BAD at making decisions.

I’d ask you about your favorite hair stylist … hair is a big deal for me and I haven’t had mine done in almost a year. Whoops …

I’d tell you about how crazy my November is going to be for work – just the full-time job. I have five events next month, but four of them require overnight travel. Nov. 3: Madison, Nov. 10: Minneapolis (overnight), Nov. 15-18: Chicago (multiple overnights). I’d tell you that I’m excited about it, because getting out of the office and being at my events is the best feeling. Although, you would probably be able to tell that I’m hopeful for new opportunities soon.

I’d tell you that we need to have coffee more often because I miss being with like-minded, fun, energetic, driven people. So, I’d basically beg you to be my friend all the time. 😉

Linking up with Amanda!

I asked you above, but if we were getting coffee, what would you want to talk about? What would you ask me? What kind of drink would you get?

My Fitness & Weight Loss Story – 40 lbs lost!

Good morning! Since I’m off building lofts for students and making sure the football players bring the pieces to the correct rooms (you’d be surprised …), I figured I’d leave you with a video I made on my weight loss story. Disclaimer: It’s LONG. You know how I like to ramble. 🙂 But if you’ve ever been interested in the whole story of how I lost (and gained) 40 lbs, here you go!

P.S. I’m going to try REALLY hard to get the new link-up up tomorrow that Kelly sparked in my brain – a screenshot linkup! So if you’re interested in linking up, I’ll at least have that part up tomorrow. My goal is to make a button you can use as well, but I just don’t know that I’ll have that ready by tomorrow. It’ll be a work in progress right?

August Goals

I see Jordyn doing a “Goals” post every month and I love it. If I’m being honest, it’s scary to make goals sometimes … lots of commitment (and we all know I’m a commitment-phobe). But since I’m all about doing things that scare me as of late, I’m going to start putting up some goals. Without further adieu …

August Goals

Fitness Goals

Stick to my program with my new coach. I start with my new coach on Monday, August 1! I signed up for 6-weeks with her and I can tell I’m already going to like her. She’s available for her clients, which is something that’s important to me.
Get back into my morning workouts, at least twice per week. If I’m able to workout at night, great, but I feel so much better when I get it in in the AM.
Lose 5 lbs. I’m not sure if this is realistic or not, but I want to get back to my weight I was when I wrote this post.

Career Goals

Look for opportunities in other states. I have always been in love with the West coast, so Washington, California, Hawaii (I know that’s not the coast but it’s “west”). Doesn’t hurt to look?
Stay motivated in my current role. While I don’t love the location, I am lucky to have my current job. I would only leave it for a better opportunity or a chance to move outside of the state (which they are aware of – they all know I want to move). I have some major events coming up this Fall that I need to stay on track for.
Clients for my side hustle. I don’t want to give my exact number goal (#commitmentissues), but I’d like to get a few more clients on my roster.
Study at least 2 days per week for NASM and schedule my test. I don’t have to take my test for a few more months, but maybe if I schedule my test I’ll hunker down and study harder.

Self-Love / Life Goals

Seriously take my coaching with Amy to heart. I think I’m already doing this, but I want to be fully committed to this life coaching program. Like she says, she can coach me all she wants, but I need to put in the work to get anything out of it.
Find a way to start saving money. I struggle with saving money. When you’re tens of thousands of dollars in debt (thank you, private college), I honestly drain my bank account to the dollar every paycheck. I’m truly living paycheck to paycheck, even though I work two jobs. I need to find a way to fix that. Not sure how yet, but I plan on working on it this August.
Beef up my confidence. For some reason, July has strained my confidence. Whether it was because of emotions (not good at those), losing people that I thought were always going to be there for me, gaining some weight, etc. – who knows. Either way, I need to get back to how I was feeling in April when I went to Hawaii. I was at my most confident and I want to get back to that point.
Be positive. Continue with my daily positivity work which includes saying what I’m grateful for every morning. I’d like to start trying out meditation, so I’d like to start doing that a few days a week.
