What are you looking for?

Happy Friday, friends! So sorry I’ve been non-existent lately. New job + migraine for two days = not much posting!

Cliffs of Moher

With that, I’ve felt a little dried up on the posting front lately. I’m not sure what you’re looking to see from me, so I’d love some feedback in the comments below.

Here are a few ideas from me:

  • Dog posts (because DUH that’s going to happen)
  • Continue with lifestyle posts like Day in the Life, Weekend Recaps and other random happenings
  • Social media guidelines, tips, etc.
  • Side hustle: How I’m doing, where I’m at, what I’m doing for the future, etc.
  • Chicago things? Maybe restaurant reviews, things we do?
  • Diet/Fitness stuff? Not sure how to move forward with this since my response to my body a couple weeks ago.

Also, a few of you have mentioned that I still haven’t told you the story of how Ben and I met and GIRL, I KNOW. Ben realllllly wants to write an ebook about it instead of a blog post and we just haven’t had a second to focus on it recently. If it doesn’t start soon, though, I’m just going to write a blog post about it and he’ll have to deal with it. #SuchANiceGirlfriend

With that, how to do you feel about any of those ideas? Do you have any others? I’ve just felt out of touch lately with everything and I want to get back into it. I absolutely love blogging and it’s my #1 passion – I just need a little help. 🙂 Thanks in advance and have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

Friday Thoughts, Unicorn Drinks & Stuff

Good post title, huh? 😉 I’m TOTALLY rocking this blogger SEO stuff.

So, this week has been crazy. Crazy in my mind, at least. Monday I worked from home and had a meeting downtown. Tuesday and Wednesday I was out in the suburbs and yesterday I was downtown again for work. Thankfully Fridays I work from home, so today will be pretty chill. Obviously I’ll be working, but I’ll also be getting in a workout and laying around on my couch. Fun plans tonight with Ben’s clients!

So in other random news… I got the Unicorn Frapp and didn’t die!

Unicorn Frapp

I honestly liked it. It was super sweet, but I like super sweet. No, there’s no caffeine and it’s full of sugar, but it’s fun and LOOK, PRETTY PICTURE. ^^

It’s been a pretty stressful day between work and other projects I’m working on, so I’ve been trying to stay in a positive mindset by reminding myself what I’m grateful for and not focusing on negative things. My body insecurities are still at an all-time high, but I’m working on it and it’s all I can do.

With that, I went to get a drink (or two) with colleagues last night and my friend snapped this seriously candid photo of me. It made me realize how happy I really am here in Chicago and how grateful I am for it. Of course, I’d love to be working downtown, but I know that’ll happen soon. So in the meantime, I just need to focus on being as happy as this girl is.

Jessie in Chicago

Cuz she’s pretty damn happy. 🙂

How has your week been so far?
What do you do to stay in a happy and grateful mindset?

Merry Christmas Eve!

Hi friends!

It’s officially Christmas Eve and I have to be honest – it feels like just another Saturday to me. I’m currently working my LAST shift at the gym (SADS), then heading out to the Packer game at noon. After the game, my mom and I are driving up north. I’m hoping between the millions of people at the gym wishing me a Merry Christmas and our little family traditions tonight, I’ll be feeling much better. What can I say – my mind is on other things!

Speaking of other things, after a trek to Chicago tomorrow night, Ben and I are off to Charleston bright and early on Monday! I’m sure I’ll be posting on Instagram and will do a recap afterwards on here, but make sure you’re following me on Snapchat because I’m SURE I’ll keep that updated. Slightly obsessed with Snapchat. 🙂 Make sure you’re following me if you’re not already! justjessie23

If you’re really feeling spunky, I bet Ben will put up a thing or two on his as well. OR if you just like fitness posts – he’s a good one to follow (he actually posts helpful things, unlike me playing around with filters and my cats). You can search for him under benfritzfit.

My shift at the gym is going incredibly slow, so I’m hoping the whole day isn’t like this! Three more hours to go until football game time! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and if you don’t celebrate, I still hope you have a wonderful day. 🙂

What are your holiday plans?

TOL: Just a little chat …

I have to be honest – I’ve been struggling on the blog front lately. With three jobs + traveling for work + looking for ways to move, my days have been full. I’m slowly trying to get back into both blogging and YouTube, so hang on tight! No better way than to link up with Amanda, right?

> Speaking of getting back into it, I feel like Vlogmas is the perfect time. Have you heard of this? It’s basically vlogging every day until Christmas. I’m going to *try*. A lot of my days are spent working, so there’s not much to show, but I’m hoping it’ll get back into the swing of things. I work so much and it sucks having to put aside your hobbies and passions because you work too much.

> I have a crazy cold that snuck in a few days ago. I finally took a rest day today because my body just wasn’t healing itself. BUT I did workout yesterday and take a #bathroomselfie after a high weigh-in.

Baby abs are trying to come in. TRYING SO HARD.

> I have been l-o-v-i-n-g this song lately. Kinda reminds me of a new person in my life. 🙂 It’s a really good song, though. Highly recommend!

> I have been obsessed with over-the-knee boots this year – I have three pairs. I used to be terrified of them because I’m so short (5’1″) but I feel like they actually make my legs look longer. Optical illusion, maybe? Anyways, I bought these red boots from Windsor a couple weeks ago (a favorite YouTuber was gushing about them, so I had to …) and I love them.

> And finally, I’m just so overwhelmed by the amount of people trying to help me succeed. Extremely overwhelming, in a good way, of course. I’ve had alumni, friends, boyfriend (obvs), boyfriend’s clients, boyfriend’s client’s friends try to help me out and I just can’t handle all the niceness. What did I do to deserve such nice people in my life?

So, there’s a few little updates! I’m “high” on cold medicine right now, but hopeful to get a lot of work done today and tonight. I work this weekend and then I’m headed to Chicago Sunday/Monday. Should be fun!

Tell me an update about you!

eShakti Dress Review

As you all know (especially if you follow me on Instagram …) I am a dress girl. Casual apparel to me is a sweater dress and boots, unless I’m working out. Business casual? A dress. Business professional? Pencil skirt and blazer. Whatever I’m dressing for (unless it’s the gym) I’m almost always in a dress.

A few weeks ago, eShakti reached out to me to try one of their dresses and tailor it to fit me and my style perfectly. Not only was I able to customize the size, but I was able to customize the length (since I’m a short human, this was AWESOME) and other little parts of the dress. I’m always nervous to purchase dresses online because I’m not sure how it’ll fit my exact shape, so I’ll definitely be using their website again. It was an extremely simple process! It took a couple of weeks for my order to process and be shipped and I’m sooooo happy with it! It’s “casual”, yet something I can still wear to work if I dress it up with boots and jewelry.

eShakti Review

Someday I’ll have a professional camera and/or camera man (<— Ben doesn’t know what he’s getting into) but for now, you get badly lit selfies. It wouldn’t be a fashion post from me if they weren’t selfies, am I right? 🙂

I paired it with some lace tights and over-the-knee black boots.

The dress is SO well made. The material is thick and comfortable and there are USEFUL pockets! You understand, ladies. Dresses with pockets are the best, but when the pockets are useful? Amazing.

My only “issue” with the dress was a personal one. I’m not used to wearing high-neck shirts/dresses, so the collar started to bother me by the end of the day, hence why some of the pictures have the buttons undone. I think it looked just as cute undone, so it didn’t end up being an issue.

I’ve worn the dress to work a few times and have had a few coworkers comment on how cute it looked! The dress even passed the Thanksgiving test – didn’t show my food baby AND I still looked presentable. 🙂

Have you ever heard of eShakti? Make sure to check them out on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter! I had hoped to have a discount code for you, but they never sent me one. If I get one in the near future, I’ll highlight it in another post! 🙂

Weekend Recap: The Calm Before the Storm

Good morning, friends! And welcome to Monday.

Since I had an event last week, I’ll start my post with Thursday. Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, my supervisor and I set off on the 4.5 hour trek to Minneapolis for my event. This event was sponsored by the Brave New Workshop, an alumni-owned theater in the city. They always do such a wonderful job with decorating and treat us so well!

The event ended up going pretty late, but I was able to catch up with a few of my favorite friends/alumni in the area! Afterwards, we headed over to Crave to eat (FINALLY) and then back to the hotel.

Crave Pasta - Minneapolis

We got up bright and early on Friday to head back to Green Bay. Super quick trip, unfortunately. We pulled into the college, unloaded the truck and I immediately left to go home. Once home, I did a few of my event wrap-up things from my couch and then took a 2.5 hour nap. Traveling + events make you TIRED, let me tell you. I ended up going to the gym later that night and then hanging out on the couch for the rest of the night.

On Saturday I got up, did some stuff around the apartment, worked a little from my couch and then had a call with my coach at 1. After my call, I headed to Starbucks for a few hours to get the rest of my client work done for the week.

Same pic, different day

After working, my sister and I headed to Pink at the mall to take advantage of the panty (I hate that word!) sale. There were SO many people out, so we ended up just getting in and out of the store before heading back home. I ended up going back into the gym around 7 and lounged in the hot tub and steam room before talking with my friend Dani at the front desk for 1.5 hours. I love when I get some chat-time with friends!

Once I got back home, I watched some YouTube videos, chatted on the phone and then headed to bed *late* (which for me means 1 a.m. – I’m too old for this).

Sunday ended up being a mostly work day. I worked a bit from the couch while watching YouTube videos, did my laundry and then headed into Starbucks with my sister and my friend Gina. The rest of the day was spent running errands, going to the gym and watching YouTube. I really should’ve gotten a head start on my social media work or … you know, packed … but I didn’t. =/

This is my last crazy week for work thankfully, but I’m excited for it! Today is nutso. Open the gym 4:45-7:45, run errands for my full-time job, GO to my full-time job and get everything ready, lunch with a coworker and a dentist appointment at 2:30. Then I need to pack for six days in Illinois once I’m home tonight. Mind you, that’s workout clothes + regular clothes + event clothes for two of those days. I hate packing. Any tips? I’d like to go to the gym to workout at some point, but that just might not happen today!

Tomorrow we head out on the road to Chicago at 8:30 a.m. and have a private event that night. We’re staying out in Bloomingdale (which is ridiculous) and then have events Wednesday in Lincolnshire and Thursday in Orland Park. Friday I have a lunch meeting in Lincoln Park with three of my board members and then I’m staying for the weekend – woooooo. It’s going to be the craziest week, but probably the most fun. Friday I think we’re going to the light festival or something, then dinner. Saturday is a little bit of work in the morning and then a hockey game at night. Sunday I’ll be on my way back to Milwaukee for my sister to pick me up at the train station. And I took Monday off. See, now I don’t even need to write my weekend recap next week because you already know what I’m doing. 😉

I’m ready to spend the week in Illinois! Even though it’s for work, I have such a great time each time I’m there. It’ll be permanent soon!

How was your weekend?
Any big plans before the Thanksgiving craziness starts next week?

Weekend Recap: Work and Coffee

Good morning! Happy (hopefully) Election Day! I’m excited for this day to be over, but also terrified by what could happen. So … let’s move past that.

Last Friday I came into work and got everything under control after a crazy event weekend. By the time I went home, I was wiped, but I still went to the gym.

Forever 21 Gym Outfit

The rest of the night I spent on the couch and going to bed early. PERFECT Friday night for me.

Saturday I woke up and got ready for work at the tennis courts. Once I got there, there weren’t any courts scheduled so I went and did some cardio and then went home. A little Chipotle for lunch and then headed down to Appleton for an afternoon with my friend, Kelly!

Fashion Nova Jeans

Wore my jeans for the first time EVER, too!

Kelly and I got coffee and “worked” (AKA chatted about life) for a few hours and then headed to get sushi. After sushi, we wandered around the mall a bit before I headed back up to GB.

Because I didn’t get much work done all week/weekend, Sunday was all about my freelance position work.

Hashtag Mug

After a few hours on my couch (with a few breaks for food in between), I headed out to Starbucks to meet my friend Gina for some work time. I chatted with her and got through the rest of my work for the afternoon.

Starbucks Date

I had all intentions of going home and watching the Packer game, but as soon as I got in the car, the first play was the other team getting a touchdown. So I drove to the gym instead. 😉

Lifted Crop Top

The rest of the evening I spent doing a bit more work and relaxing on the couch before an early bedtime. Made waking up early to workout pretty easy on Monday. 🙂

Monday Workout

Then again, I tend to make all of my spelling errors when I snap at 5:30 a.m. *eyeroll*

The rest of the day was spent at work and then bumming around Green Bay with my sister. Now we’re on to Tuesday!

How was your weekend?

Hey what’s up hello

Long time, no chat! Well, really it’s only been a week but I’ve been completely disconnected from the blog world! Let’s catch up! 🙂

Last Friday I worked a half day and then headed to lunch at Kavarna with my friend Kayla (I’m going to her wedding later this month) before heading out to Madison for a weekend with Lindsay!

Friday, funny enough, we didn’t take any pictures together (which is totally unlike Lindsay and me) so Saturday we had to make up for it. I’m sure you saw if you already follow me on Snapchat. 😉 JustJessie23 …

We started the day slowly, watching movies, doing Lindsay’s hair, etc. We went for lunch, went shopping and then got some cupcakes. 🙂 We tried to go to a tattoo parlor (I have a new one I want) but they were closed. Downtown Madison was insane due to the home Badgers game AND fright fest. We did end up going out for Halloween, but we didn’t dress up and I didn’t drink at all. Still a fun (but late!) night!

This week has been a whirlwind, which I’m kind of expecting all of November to be. Monday I worked + closed the gym until 11 p.m. Tuesday I had an extremely stressful meeting at work. Wednesday was spent preparing for my event on Thursday. Yesterday was a 16-hour day of travel + an event + a migraine in Madison although the event went well). Here’s a few snaps from the week …

And now it’s Friday on my lunch break and I am T-I-R-E-D! Just have to make it through the day, then hopefully I’ll have a busy, but fun weekend! I’m planning to see my friend Dani tonight and my friend Kelly tomorrow. Of course, I also work at the tennis courts tomorrow, have to fit in my social media freelance that I’m a little behind on and workout somewhere in there, too! Oh and sleep. Sleep would be cool. 😉

How was your week??

New Hair & Wedding Dress HELP

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Tuesdays are always the hardest day of the week for me, for some reason. Usually I’m running on pure adrenaline on Mondays, but by Tuesday, I have to physically push myself out of bed. But I’m here!

Anyways, I got in a spur of the moment hair cut / color last night and … it took 3.5 hours. My hair just pulls yellow like nobody’s business! So a million years of toning later …

Before and After

It’s horrible lighting, but basically it’s a lot darker, with less warmth and more cool blonde. The bottoms are pretty much gray right now, but that’ll wash out and be an ashy blonde. I like it, but it always takes me a little bit to get used to change to my hair – I’m very particular about it!  But most of all, it needed to be cut SO badly – the split ends were out of this world!

Moving on from that, I wrote about my weekend yesterday, but as always, gotta plug the YouTube video. It’s short (what, me do a short video?!) and is just my day on Saturday for Homecoming if you’re interested in watching!

Okay, last but certainly not least … I NEED HELP. I have two dresses (albiet they’re basically the same damn dress …) that I need to choose between for a wedding next month. Normally, I would not care, but for the first time in about, oh, I don’t know … eleventy billion years, I’m actually going to have a date to a wedding (#shocker) so yo girl needs to look spiffy. Which do you prefer?

Dress - which to choose!

And last but CERTAINLY not least, it’s my BESTEST LOVE’S 30th birthday today! <3 Love you, Amy!
