Weekend Recap: A loss & two wins

Good morning, friends! I can’t believe it’s Monday already. How is that fair?

After my post on Friday, the rest of the day at work went pretty slowly. No one was here and I was waiting for client feedback, so it was a long afternoon. I got to Ben’s around 6:15 and immediately died on the couch. Okay, over dramatic … but I laid there until I had no other choice than to get up.

Thankfully (??) Ben had a hockey game at 10:20 p.m. BACK out in the suburbs, but I love hockey so it worked out. The game was awesome, plus Ben had an assist AND the game winning goal so I mean … good Friday night.

Saturday I tried to sleep in, but it didn’t work so I got up and talked with Ben’s cousin while he was at work. After she left, I took a little cat nap on the couch before walking over to Starbucks to get a little pick-me-up. I came back to an AMAZING package …

Halo Top

My Ben’s Halo Top package. I like to say it’s mine because #GirlfriendPrivilege

I also got the key code (I don’t have actual keys) to my apartment, so once Ben got home later that afternoon we went and checked it out. Unfortunately, it was not done. The floors weren’t finished, paint wasn’t dry, it was still dirty … etc. I texted my landlord and she was super apologetic. She had thought the contractors would be done by Friday, but it’ll be done soon. Thankfully I wasn’t actually moving in. Either way, I think it’ll be a nice place! If it’s not, I only signed a 7-month lease, so I can survive for 7 months. Pictures next weekend when I move!

Around 7:30, Ben and I headed BACK out to the suburbs to his parents house to babysit his family’s dog. Not mad about it.

We spent the rest of the evening eating Portillos and watching Dexter. You’d know this if you followed me on Snapchat. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (pst … it’s JustJessie23)

Sunday we slept in a *tiny* bit before heading off to Starbucks to get cranky-pants a coffee. Two guesses who that is. (Hint: Ben doesn’t drink caffeine so …) Ben worked for awhile before his friends showed up and we all went and got brunch, then watched the HORRIBLE PACKER GAME THAT I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT.

Packer Game Sadness

After the game, we hung out with his family once they got home before going to his hockey game. They won again in a shoot out, so that was pretty fun!

Watching him play hockey is a double-edged sword. I lovvvvvve it and the aggressiveness of the sport, but Benjamin is “extra aggressive” we’ll say … so he seems to always be in on the action so I’m constantly thinking he’s broken. He came off the ice in one piece, though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After the game, we drove back, showered and off to bed. I woke up at 5:15 this morning and made it to the gym, which I’m pretty proud of.

Gym Meme

Got in some lower body and stretching. I was feeling awesome until about now (it’s not even 10 a.m.) … I feel like I might pass out at my desk. Should be fun!

How was your weekend?
Any moving tips? I get super stressed when moving, so I’d love the info!

Weekend Recap: Sleeping Beauty

And just like that, it’s Monday again! Whoaaaa. Last week was SO crazy being my first week at my new job, so my weekend was full of a LOT of sleeping. And lounging. And more sleeping. Mostly sleeping.

Just to update you a bit on the job, last Monday was very overwhelming. I sat in orientation all day and there’s only so much new information my brain can take before it feels like it’s going to explode. By the time I got home that night, I was a pile of tears and emotions.

Tuesday was a bit better because I was with my team most of the day. They’re very relaxed where I work and I’m hardly ever checked on, which was strange all week. I went to a few meetings, but mostly I’ve been working on getting to know my “client” and getting HR stuff done.

That night I went to my first Blackhawks game and OHMYGOSH I’m so hooked. I love hockey, but I’ve never really followed professional hockey (just college). It was so much fun!

Blackhawks Game

The rest of the week was just work and trying to relax after work. Oh, and I signed a lease for my new apartment on Thursday! I get the keys on the 21st. I probably won’t be able to move until the weekend after, but I’m excited to have found a place so quickly, even though money has been super tight.

Friday was pretty slow at work. Most people on my team work from home on Fridays (something I hope to get to do after a few weeks or so here). Friday night I went out to dinnerย with Ben and friends which was a lot of fun. I slept in on Saturday while Ben went to work (seriously, I slept until like 11) and then I met Ben at his gym where I finallllllly let go of my ego and had him put me through a workout. My booty is sorrrrrrre today.

The rest of the afternoon was super chill, which I love. Ben and I watched football, a movie, some Netflix … nothing crazy, but it was really nice after a long, stressful week.

Today (Sunday as I’m writing this) we woke up a little late, and then I headed over to The Vig to meet my friend Amanda for brunch. Amanda and I worked together in Milwaukee years ago at an ad agency and kept in touch for years until she moved to Chicago with her husband a few years ago. I saw here one time while I was visiting and now I’m living here, so we had to catch up!

I had a Bloody Mary & Chicken and Waffles, which was good! The vibe of the place was really cool.

The Vig

The Vig

The rest of Sunday was centered around the Packer game (OBVIOUSLY AND YAY THEY WON) and getting ready for the week. Let’s just say … I know I’ve only been in Chicago for a week, but I’m absolutely loving it. It helps that I get to be close to my favorite person, I’m sure. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I just feel so alive and excited to try new things! I think this is exactly what I needed.

Okay, enough gushing. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Tell me something that you’re looking forward to in the comments below.

The weekend I moved to Chicago …

Well, sort of. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay, so “technically” I’m only in a temporary living spot at my boyfriend’s (he and his cousinย are THE BEST for letting my crash here) and my apartment lease in Green Bay is finished until the end of February, BUT I’m counting this as the weekend I became a Chicago-resident. Just let me have it, okay? It’s been a long week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Friday I got up, got a few things finished around my apartment and then headed off for Chicago. I stopped at Trader Joe’s in Milwaukee to pick up a few food items to keep at Ben’s and then off to Chicago I went. Once I got to Chicago, Ben and I traveled the FAR JOURNEY (aka two blocks away) to an apartment showing. Friday night was pretty relaxed – I was supposed to hang out with a girlfriend, but she bailed (boooo) but it was actually okay because my lower back was KILLING me. Ben’s cousin wasn’t home all weekend and Ben had plans with his family Friday night, so I ordered myself too much Thai food and hung out on the couch. Much needed.

Saturday I woke up with Ben and went to Starbucks while he trained his clients at the gym. He came over after his sessions and worked with me for awhile on my application for the apartment (fingers crossed). The rest of the day was extremely chill. I was pretty nervous on-and-off all weekend (poor Ben) so I went in and out of “quiet time” (aka my brain shuts down and goes off into stress lala land). We watched a few things on Netflix, made some dinner and then headed out to the suburbs for a late hockey game. We didn’t get back into the city until almost 1 a.m., so sleep time it was!

Sunday we slept in a *tiny* bit and then continued with the laziness – well, I did. Ben cleaned his apartment and did some work while I watched football on the couch. I did get up and help him hang some stuff on the walls and then meal prepped some rice and turkey meat for the week. We headed out to the suburbs for a quick Target stop and then another hockey game. I’m all about those hockey games – plus it got me out of my nervous funk for a little while.

Unfortunately I didn’t sleep much since today was the first day at my new job!

New Job in Chicago

It was an extremely overwhelming day and I got maybe four hours of sleep last night so that didn’t help. From 7:45-3 I was in orientation, then was taken to my desk. The corporation is gigantic and there are so many things to do/know, and that’s not even more my job! To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement. Thankfully my boss let me go around 4:20, but I still hit traffic (another thing I was overwhelmed by). I got back to Ben’s place right before he left to go trainย a few more clients and I just crumpled into a ball of stress. THIS POOR GUY – someone buy him a bazillion gallons of ice cream and send it from me, please? He’s the best.

So now it’s almost 8 p.m. and I’m just getting to write this blog. I’m *thinking* about going to the gym at my job tomorrow morning, but I’m going to talk to a smart trainer I know about it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t want to overextend myself, so I’ll see what he thinks. What do you think?

Also, apologies – I only have one picture but basically just picture me stressed and quiet all weekend.

How do you deal with the stress of a new job, new city or new anything?

Weekend Recap: A Sleepy NYE in Chicago

Happy New Year, friends! I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend and rang in the New Year in whatever style works for you.

Ben and I got home from our road trip (recaps of that coming the rest of this week!) late on Friday night, so we slept in a bit on Saturday which was AMAZING. Once we finally got up, we headed out to the suburbs to pick up Ben’s car from his parents’ house and then headed back into the city where we didn’t move from the couch the rest of the day. SO lazy.

After some Thai takeout (yum), we got ready to head out to Ben’s cousin’s place for a fun night of hanging out with lots of fun people. We had a couple of drinks, stuck around for the NYE countdown at midnight and then headed up to the rooftop of the building. Got a picture with my man … ๐Ÿ™‚

chicago NYE

And then we headed back to Ben’s place to go to bed because we’re old and tired.

Now it’s Sunday and I’m currently sitting at Starbucks with Ben, writing this post while he gets some work done. My gym job and social media job are officially done (woo!) so I’m just focusing on the last few days of work this week at the college and then back to Chicago next weekend except PERMANENTLY. I’ll head back to Green Bay later this evening and then I’ll be figuring stuff out this week. I can’t believe 2017 is here – time for some BIG changes, friends!

I’ll have 3-4 posts about my road trip with Ben coming up this week as well as a requested story of how Ben and I met (thanks, Liz!) soon, too. I’ll also keep you all updated on the move and all the craziness (good and bad!) that come with it. I’m so excited to get back into blogging and vlogging – the things I’m passionate about have taken the backseat the past few months due to so much craziness with my three jobs. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride. ๐Ÿ™‚

How was your NYE? Did you do anything fun or were you pretty low-key? ย

Weekend Recap: Wedding Weekend

It’s officially Christmas season! Now if only the rain would go away. I’m not a snow girl, but this rain/gloom is worse than snow in my opinion. Plus, it makes it feel a little more Christmassey. ๐Ÿ™‚

So I don’t have too many pictures from the weekend because *gasp* I was living in the moment, but Thanksgiving was crazy up north at my mom and dad’s home. Friday morning I woke up, worked out and headed out to Milwaukee to pick up Ben for the weekend. We went to Bel Air Cantina for an early dinner, walked around a park that had a bunch of Christmas lights and then headed up to Green Bay for the night.

Saturday was a slow morning of cooking and watching some Netflix before getting ready for Kayla’s wedding! The ceremony was at 2 (and we weren’t allowed to take pictures – bride’s rules!) and then Ben and I headed over to Lambeau Field to check it out. He’s an avid Bears fan (aka Packers hater) so I had to show him a real team’s stadium. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After a quick late lunch, Ben and I headed over the venue for the reception! I was actually in charge of taking photos and videos (along with a few other girls) for the reception, so I don’t have many photos of my own …

Wedding Weekend

Sunday was a full travel day – I drove Ben back to Milwaukee to the train, drove back to Green Bay and spent the rest of the evening working on my social media clients. Monday is ROUGH, ya’ll. Send some positive vibes my way, please. I’m hoping this week pipes up a bit! ๐Ÿ™‚

Weekend Recap: I’ll be back soon, Chicago!

Hi friends!

Weekend recap time – only two days late. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve actually been waiting on discount codes from a sponsored post, otherwise this would’ve been up yesterday. I’m also going to write a post on all three of my events last week, so stay tuned for that!

So let’s start with last Friday. I got up, worked out in the hotel fitness room …

Hotel Workout

Pretty good little room for a crazy hotel (you know if you’re a part of my Snapchat fam) ๐Ÿ™‚

After my workout, I got my last free breakfast buffet with my colleague and then we got all packed up and ready to go. We drove to Naperville for a meeting with three of my alumni boar members, did a venue check and had a wonderful lunch with them. No pics. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After a long afternoon of that (that’s what happens when you have four talkers in one room ha!) my colleague drove me downtown to stay with Ben for the weekend.

And that’s my weekend …

(I’m just getting ready for the comments)

Ben is a guy I’ve been seeing whenever possible for the last couple of months and, after this weekend, is my boyfriend. WHOA GIRL. I know. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll tell you more about him later. Maybe. Probably. So, now at least you have the basics.

Chicago weekend

So, Friday night I spent with Ben and his friends out at a taco bar (which I forget the name of) and then we went to a bar to play pool afterwards (or for me to watch everyone play pool because I suck).

Saturday morning Ben had to work (he’s a personal trainer so Saturday morning clients!) so I went with him and sat at a Starbucks to get some work done. I did get to meet up with Marette that morning! So we were able to chat about all things life, but of course we forgot to take a picture. ๐Ÿ™‚

Around 1, I went over to the gym and checked out his space. We were both starving, so we hit up a sushi place as you can see in the picture above and then went back to his place and hung out. He had some work to do and I was basically still in a coma from my week of events so we sat on the couch watching too many episodesย of New Girl. Later that night he had a hockey game, so I went with him and a few of his family members to watch the game. So basically a pretty amazing Saturday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunday we hit up a brunch place (DO YOU SEE THE FRENCH TOAST WE GOT?!) and then got a little bit of work done before I had to take the train back to Milwaukee where my sister picked me up to take me back to Green Bay!

The rest of the night I watched the Packers lose (boo) and got a few things done around the house. Wonderful weekend!

I had both Monday and Tuesday off this week, so basically all I did was workout and clean. See?

Workout Photo

It’s weird working out when the sun is up.

So that was my weekend! Probably the best one I’ve had in a long, long time! ๐Ÿ™‚ I work tonight until 7 p.m. and tomorrow I work 8-11 a.m. before I head up to my parent’s house for dinner with the fam. Friday I head to MKE to pick up some boy to come with me to a wedding this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜‰

How was your weekend? Ready for a short week?

Weekend Recap: The Calm Before the Storm

Good morning, friends! And welcome to Monday.

Since I had an event last week, I’ll start my post with Thursday. Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, my supervisor and I set off on the 4.5 hour trek to Minneapolis for my event. This event was sponsored by the Brave New Workshop, an alumni-owned theater in the city. They always do such a wonderful job with decorating and treat us so well!

A Brave New Workshop

A Brave New Workshop

The event ended up going pretty late, but I was able to catch up with a few of my favorite friends/alumni in the area! Afterwards, we headed over to Crave to eat (FINALLY) and then back to the hotel.

Crave Pasta - Minneapolis

We got up bright and early on Friday to head back to Green Bay. Super quick trip, unfortunately. We pulled into the college, unloaded the truck and I immediately left to go home. Once home, I did a few of my event wrap-up things from my couch and then took a 2.5 hour nap. Traveling + events make you TIRED, let me tell you. I ended up going to the gym later that night and then hanging out on the couch for the rest of the night.

On Saturday I got up, did some stuff around the apartment, worked a little from my couch and then had a call with my coach at 1. After my call, I headed to Starbucks for a few hours to get the rest of my client work done for the week.

Same pic, different day

After working, my sister and I headed to Pink at the mall to take advantage of the panty (I hate that word!) sale. There were SO many people out, so we ended up just getting in and out of the store before heading back home. I ended up going back into the gym around 7 and lounged in the hot tub and steam room before talking with my friend Dani at the front desk for 1.5 hours. I love when I get some chat-time with friends!

Once I got back home, I watched some YouTube videos, chatted on the phone and then headed to bed *late* (which for me means 1 a.m. – I’m too old for this).

Sunday ended up being a mostly work day. I worked a bit from the couch while watching YouTube videos, did my laundry and then headed into Starbucks with my sister and my friend Gina. The rest of the day was spent running errands, going to the gym and watching YouTube. I really should’ve gotten a head start on my social media work or … you know, packed … but I didn’t. =/

This is my last crazy week for work thankfully, but I’m excitedย for it! Today is nutso. Open the gym 4:45-7:45, run errands for my full-time job, GO to my full-time job and get everything ready, lunch with a coworkerย and a dentist appointment at 2:30. Then I need to pack for six days in Illinois once I’m home tonight.ย Mind you, that’s workout clothes + regular clothes + event clothes for two of those days. I hate packing. Any tips? I’d like to go to the gym to workout at some point, but that just might not happen today!

Tomorrow we head out on the road to Chicago at 8:30 a.m. and have a private event that night. We’re staying out in Bloomingdale (which is ridiculous) and then have events Wednesday in Lincolnshire and Thursday in Orland Park. Friday I have a lunch meeting in Lincoln Park with three of my board members and then I’m staying for the weekend – woooooo. It’s going to be the craziest week, but probably the most fun. Friday I think we’re going to the light festival or something, then dinner. Saturday is a little bit of work in the morning and then a hockey game at night. Sunday I’ll be on my way back to Milwaukee for my sister to pick me up at the train station. And I took Monday off. See, now I don’t even need to write my weekend recap next week because you already know what I’m doing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m ready to spend the week in Illinois! Even though it’s for work, I have such a great time each time I’m there. It’ll be permanent soon!

How was your weekend?
Any big plans before the Thanksgiving craziness starts next week?

Weekend Recap: Work and Coffee

Good morning! Happy (hopefully) Election Day! I’m excited for this day to be over, but also terrified by what could happen. So … let’s move past that.

Last Friday I came into work and got everything under control after a crazy event weekend. By the time I went home, I was wiped, but I still went to the gym.

Forever 21 Gym Outfit

The rest of the night I spent on the couch and going to bed early. PERFECT Friday night for me.

Saturday I woke up and got ready for work at the tennis courts. Once I got there, there weren’t any courts scheduled so I went and did some cardio and then went home. A little Chipotle for lunch and then headed down to Appleton for an afternoon with my friend, Kelly!

Fashion Nova Jeans

Wore my jeans for the first time EVER, too!

Kelly and I got coffee and “worked” (AKA chatted about life) for a few hours and then headed to get sushi. After sushi, we wandered around the mall a bit before I headed back up to GB.

Because I didn’t get much work done all week/weekend, Sunday was all about my freelance position work.

Hashtag Mug

After a few hours on my couch (with a few breaks for food in between), I headed out to Starbucks to meet my friend Gina for some work time. I chatted with her and got through the rest of my work for the afternoon.

Starbucks Date

I had all intentions of going home and watching the Packer game, but as soon as I got in the car, the first play was the other team getting a touchdown. So I drove to the gym instead. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lifted Crop Top

The rest of the evening I spent doing a bit more work and relaxing on the couch before an early bedtime. Made waking up early to workout pretty easy on Monday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday Workout

Then again, I tend to make all of my spelling errors when I snap at 5:30 a.m. *eyeroll*

The rest of the day was spent at work and then bumming around Green Bay with my sister. Now we’re on to Tuesday!

How was your weekend?

Hey what’s up hello

Long time, no chat! Well, really it’s only been a week but I’ve been completely disconnected from the blog world! Let’s catch up! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last Friday I worked a half day and then headed to lunch at Kavarna with my friend Kayla (I’m going to her wedding later this month) before heading out to Madison for a weekend with Lindsay!

Friday, funny enough, we didn’t take any pictures together (which is totally unlike Lindsay and me) so Saturday we had to make up for it. I’m sure you saw if you already follow me on Snapchat. ๐Ÿ˜‰ JustJessie23 …

Girls weekend in Madison

Girls weekend in Madison

Girls weekend in Madison

Girls weekend in Madison

We started the day slowly, watching movies, doing Lindsay’s hair, etc. We went for lunch, went shopping and then got some cupcakes. ๐Ÿ™‚ We tried to go to a tattoo parlor (I have a new one I want) but they were closed. Downtown Madison was insane due to the home Badgers game AND fright fest. We did end up going out for Halloween, but we didn’t dress up and I didn’t drink at all. Still a fun (but late!) night!

This week has been a whirlwind, which I’m kind of expecting all of November to be. Monday I worked + closed the gym until 11 p.m. Tuesday I had an extremely stressful meeting at work. Wednesday was spent preparing for my event on Thursday. Yesterday was a 16-hour day of travel + an event + a migraine in Madison although the event went well). Here’s a few snaps from the week …

Workout to work

Madison Tom's Last Tango

And now it’s Friday on my lunch break and I am T-I-R-E-D! Just have to make it through the day, then hopefully I’ll have a busy, but fun weekend! I’m planning to see my friend Dani tonight and my friend Kelly tomorrow. Of course, I also work at the tennis courts tomorrow, have to fit in my social media freelance that I’m a little behind on and workout somewhere in there, too! Oh and sleep. Sleep would be cool. ๐Ÿ˜‰

How was your week??

Weekend Recap: Homecoming 2016

And the crazy weekend is over – woooohoooo!

Saturday my day started out pretty early with a trip to the gym. Had to get it in!

Workout outfit from TJ Maxx

After an upper body + HIIT workout, it was off to the Homecoming tailgate!

Homecoming 2016

It was actually a pretty slow tailgate for us this year, but we still had a good chunk of people stop by!

After the tailgate, we went back to the house (my office is in a house) and unloaded the truck/ate/sat down for a couple of minutes. Then the rest of the afternoon was spent running around campus, checking in on smaller reunions and getting our “After Party” tent all set up.

Food truck at Homecoming

The After Party went all night and I was whooped. I got home around 9 p.m. and went straight to bed.

Sunday morning I slept in a little and then started in on my social media freelance … and was interrupted by a pug. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pug Distraction

I got done with my social around 3 and then cleaned the apartment as best I could, did laundry, went to the gym, went grocery shopping, meal prepped … and then died. Just kidding – but it was a pretty crazy “weekend” if you can even call it that.

This morning I got up at 5 (somehow) and got in a shoulders + HIIT workout.

Workout outfit from TJ Maxx

And now it’s back to work!

Here’s to a productive week – last week before my travel month starts up. Madison (for fun) this weekend to visit my wonderful friend Lindsay and hopefully a TON more trips to Chicago next month. I’m telling you … I just need to be there permanently. ๐Ÿ˜‰
